Chapter 109
Chapter 109:.
Matthew Nelson looked up as his eyes landed on Dolores’ hand covering her chest, and asked, “Burned?”
“…”
Dolores Flores twisted her head as she couldn’t bear his gaze, “No.”
After saying this, she walked to the meeting area and sat down on the couch. She bent down to pull out some pieces of tissue paper and wiped the water stains from her neck.
Suddenly, her vision was blocked. Matthew had unexpectedly approached. Dolores coughed lightly, “Why are you here? You have a lot of things to take care of.”
As Dolores handed over the water, a huge stack of documents was waiting to be signed on Matthew’s desk.
Matthew seemed to hear nothing and picked up the tissue in Dolores’ hand, “I’ll clean it up for you.”
“Okay.” Dolores tried to grab the tissue in Matthew’s hand, but missed when Matthew raised his hand.
“Be good.” Matthew squatted down in front of her legs. He gently opened her neck to wipe the water stain on her skin.
Matthew looked down, gently wiping it away, and looked solemn. Dolores went into a light trance for a few seconds.
She turned her head slightly, not daring to stare at him for too long.

She was afraid.
Afraid that all this was nothing more than a magnificent dream.
Unreal.
“Don’t be too nice to me.” Dolores didn’t want to fall for it.
To fall into the trap of his tenderness.
She didn’t deliberately think about his identity, but that was the truth.
After that night, she thought she would never have a love for the rest of her life.
She had lost the ability to have a good life.
She couldn’t deny that Matthew’s imprints inside her grew deeper over the years. It was not indelible but it could not be ignored. She was sort of used to his domination, his lightness and occasional consideration.
Matthew was slowly taking over her heart.
Matthew laughed, “I want to be nice to you.”
Dolores’ eyes were red. She didn’t want Matthew to notice, so she scoffed, “Such bad taste.”
“…”
It was the first time she had ever heard someone put herself down.
He smiled, “Yes, indeed, poor taste. You don’t look pretty either.” Why be so careful all of a sudden?
He looked carefully at the woman in front of him. Her eyebrows, nose, lips, chin and cheeks were not the most remarkable, but when combined, they looked incredibly unique.
Six years ago, she was pure, like a naive child.
After experiencing so many these years, she was gentle, intellectual, and even more feminine.
Knock, knock…
There was a knock on the office door and Matthew reacted immediately. He raised his eyes and looked at Dolores for a moment before getting up. He picked up his suit from the couch and handed it to her, “Put it on.”
Dolores looked at herself and then took it and put it on her body.
After putting it on, Matthew spoke softly, “Come in.” Abbott Baron came in with Terry Holmes.noveldrama
It was the first time Terry had come to such a place and he looked around on his way in. After entering Matthew’s office, he was amused, thinking that rich people had such a luxurious lifestyle.
His whole house was not as big as a corner of the office.
“Sit down.” Abbott reminded Terry.
Terry smiled, feeling a little embarrassed that he had been rude a moment ago.
He sat down across from Dolores, “I brought what you wanted, have you planned what to do next?”
Dolores raised her head, looking at Matthew, and nodded, “Yes, please give it to me.”
Terry didn’t pull it out right away, but continued to ask inquisitively, “What are you going to do now? Let me tell you something. Since you just got back and don’t know anything about the situation in the country. The DC law firm in B-town is very famous in the country. All of their lawyers are elite. If we can hire one as our lawyer, the chance of winning is higher.”
As Terry said, his face shadowed, “He had found one originally, but when he found out it was the Herbert Family, he turned it down. ”
Dolores then understood Matthew’s intention at that moment.
With only the evidence Terry had, it would not be possible to confront Maria Herbert.
Until then, the Herbert Family would step in to find someone and spend some money to contain things.
“Why don’t you talk?” Terry glared at Dolores.
“Give me the thing and let me handle this.”
“What are you going to do? I can help you.” Terry wasn’t distrusting Dolores. It was just that this wasn’t a one-person affair, they should both try, and not push Dolores to do it alone.
Terry knew this wasn’t simple.
After all, it had been six years.
Dolores gathered the suit around her and spoke quietly, “You should have noticed that this case is far from simple. The Herbert Family was well known and respected. They won’t allow something like this to happen. With just you and me, we can’t do it.”
“Then how?” Terry was nervous and got up from the couch.
“Don’t be distressed.” Dolores was quick to reassure him, “That’s why I asked you to give me the stuff. There’s someone here to help us.”
“Who…?”
Terry reacted immediately.
His jaw dropped, but then he quickly closed his mouth and pursed it tightly.
He pointed cautiously at the man standing next to him with a cold face the whole time, “Will you help us?” Dolores nodded.
Terry withdrew his hand, holding it tightly.
Then he realized and immediately put all the things he was bringing on the table.
“Let me know if you need anything.” Terry smiled.
Dolores took a look and confirmed that it was something Terry had shown her.
Meanwhile.
There was a knock on the door of Dolores’ house.
Jessica Lennon opened the door.
Sampson Herbert had a bandage around his head. The head wound was clean, and he had also changed his clothes.
Jessica was stunned, “What happened to your head, how did you get hurt?”
Sampson had a strained expression and smiled, “I accidentally hit it.”
“Be careful.” Jessica said with concern.
After all, they had known each other for a long time. Even though Jessica knew it was impossible for Dolores to be with him, proper manners were still necessary.
“Sure, I will. Where’s Lola?” Sampson looked toward the house and saw no sign of Dolores.
“She didn’t come home last night. She came back this morning for a while and left again. I’m not sure what she’s doing.” Jessica said.
“Oh, I see. I’m here for her, why won’t you let me in?” Sampson asked with a smile.
“Oh, silly me.” Jessica hurried to let him in.
Sampson looked toward the bedroom, “Where are the two boy?”
Jessica wiped her hands on her apron and poured Sampson a glass of water,
“Samuel is playing with Simona inside.”
“Oh.” Sampson sat down on the couch and asked offhandedly, “Did Lola say anything when she came back?”
He took a sip of the water, hiding his panic.
“No. She came back just to see the kids. She didn’t even eat breakfast at home.” Jessica smiled.
“I ran into Lola yesterday and brought up the matter between the two of us again. She seemed to get angry and left then. I was afraid she would be angry, so I went over to check on her.”
The smile on Jessica’s face disappeared. That wasn’t her daughter’s style.
Even if Dolores turned him down, she would never just leave him.
Dolores was clear about her grudges and grievances.
Although Dolores didn’t like Sampson, he had helped her a lot over the past few years. Dolores would not be so ignorant and turn her back on Sampson.
“Jessica, I’d like to buy you lunch and apologize to Lola.” Sampson’s eyes flickered, not daring to look directly at Jessica.
