Chapter 108
Chapter 108:.
His clothes were new and cost him more than forty thousand yuan. He bought them specially to wear them when he delivered the report to the president at the end of the month. The only time he could see the president was when he delivered the monthly report to him at the end of the month.
There was another meeting involving up to a hundred senior managers, his position was low and he could not see him clearly. It was the only time she could interact directly with the president. Besides, she knew he had just cancelled an engagement, was single and available. She had to take advantage of this opportunity. If she could win his favor, she could become Mrs. Nelson.
Dolores was startled and didn’t notice her. It was her mistake and she apologized profusely, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”
“Do you think you can settle this with an apology, do you know how much these clothes cost, can you afford to make it up to them?” Candance glared at her. Her beautiful dress was stained-how could she see the president like this?
She hadn’t seen Dolores around, and she commented, “Are you new here?”
Dolores feared he would ask what department she was from and said, “No.”
Candance’s expression became even more hostile. Other than Helen, who had just left Matthew, she had no other women. There were no women at that level, so where was she from? Could it be that she also found out about Matthew’s marital rejection and came to work to curry favor with him?
Candance’s expression darkened further at the thought of this.
“I’ll open the door for you if you want to come in.” Dolores felt bad as she spilled the water and just as she was about to open the door, Candance grabbed her hand and jerked it away. Dolores took several steps backward and the water spilled out of the cup onto her chest and neck. Thank goodness the water was not hot and only soaked her clothes.
She was wearing a satin dress and, being wet, her underwear was clearly visible. She quickly covered her chest. Although she had given birth to children, she had maintained her figure very well. She was shapely and had a nice figure.
When Candance saw her chest, she was stunned and scoffed, “What a slut. Who are you trying to seduce wearing so little?” Candance thought she was here to seduce Matthew.
Competing with her?
“Scoundrel.” Candance scoffed.
Dolores flared up. She’d already apologized and why was she still making things difficult for him?
“Learn to forgive and forget. As staff of such a large company, don’t you have a little grace?”
“You… Who do you mean?” stammered Candance.
Dolores couldn’t be bothered with her and turned to go back to the pantry, but was held back by Candance, who said, “Don’t think you can leave without apologizing to me!” Candance was furious. It didn’t matter, she was a finance manager for WY Group.
Dolores was just a new staff here. Why should she care about Dolores? She was sure to win this match.noveldrama
Dolores glared at her angrily, “I’ve already apologized for spilling water on you. Now you should be the one apologizing to me.”
“Ha! Are you worthy of my apology?” Candance scoffed, “I don’t think you want to be in the office anymore. How dare a small staff be so arrogant. You think I can’t make your life miserable here?” Dolores was speechless.
Now the office door opened and a man stood in the doorway. He looked around, again at Dolores and then the water on the floor.
“Mr. Nelson, I came to give you this monthly report and this newcomer has spilled the water all over me. Not only was she unapologetic, she was downright arrogant. Our company should not have this kind of person.” Candance was quick to accuse.
In these types of matters, the person who spoke first would have the upper hand. If she exposed the situation first, then Dolores would be on the defensive. As she said this, she stroked her beautiful hair and walked over to Matthew. She ducked her head pitifully and seemed to seek Matthew’s comfort. Matthew heard everything clearly in his office. Dolores had apologized from the beginning and it was she who made a mountain out of a molehill.
“How do you think this should be handled?” asked Matthew to Dolores.
Before Dolores could answer, Candance looked with glee at this tall, godlike man. Was he asking her how to treat Dolores? She felt so spoiled. Candance felt like her heart might jump at any moment.
“This kind of person should not remain with the company. His character is flawed.” Candance said as she looked at Matthew.
His strong frame was dressed in an immaculate business suit. His body exuded a strong manly presence. The more she looked at him, the more her heart raced.
He was silent for a couple of seconds.
Dolores looked at Candance, took a deep breath and didn’t pursue the matter further.
She asked Matthew, “Are you still thirsty?”
“Yes.”
Dolores turned to walk toward the pantry.
Candance was stunned for a couple of seconds. What did this mean?
Then she reacted, “Mr. Nelson wants a drink? I’ll get you some water.” Then she turned around to run in front of Dolores and pour the water.
Matthew didn’t bother to look at her and said, “You’re fired.”
Candance’s expression changed – did he mean her? Impossible.
“Mr. Nelson, it wasn’t me. She’s the one with the defective character…” Candance tried to explain.
She was nervous. Why did things turn out this way? Shouldn’t this woman be the one fired?
She looked at the report in her hands and Candance found a reason to plead with Matthew and said, “Mr. Nelson, this is this month’s report. It was that woman who was creating a scene here. I’ve been on staff here for a long time, how can you say I shouldn’t come here anymore, shouldn’t she be the one to leave?”
Matthew’s expression darkened as he looked down at her hands gripping his sleeve.
Abbott had just returned from some errands and was about to introduce himself to Matthew. When he saw Candance bothering Matthew, he was shocked at what had happened.
Matthew hated to be touched by others. What happened when he wasn’t around? What was he missing?
“Mr. Nelson.” Abbott approached.
“Don’t let me ever see this person in the company again.” Matthew pushed Candance’s hand away as if he had touched something dirty.
Candance was upset that she was the one who was fired.
“Mr. Nelson…” She wanted to explain further and slander Dolores, but Abbott stopped her and said calmly, “Come on, you should know Mr. Nelson’s character. Since when did you change your attitude?”
“But it wasn’t me!” Candance still didn’t think she was wrong.
Dolores carried a glass of water and covered her chest with her other hand. Abbott was stunned when he saw her – how had she come back?
“Miss Flores.” Abbott nodded and smiled.
Dolores nodded softly, “She’s thirsty, I’ll bring this first.”
“Okay.” Abbott replied.
Abbott looked at Dolores’ wet clothes and could guess what had happened.
Candance was stunned. She looked at Abbott with wide eyes, “You called her Miss Flores, do you know her?”.
“Yes.” Abbott took the document from her, “Give it to me. Get your things and leave today.”
“Who is she?” Candance swallowed hard and realized Dolores’ connections to Matthew. From the way she reacted to Abbott it seemed they had known each other for a long time.
“Who is she?” Abbott looked at the closed door and thought she must be someone Matthe had in his heart.
In the office, Matthew took off his suit jacket and put on a long-sleeved white shirt.
His sleeves were folded up to expose his forearm.
Dolores placed the glass of water in front of him, “Here you go.” Matthew looked up .
