Chapter 781
Perhaps she was shaken-or the memories of the past overwhelmed her-but Nadine suddenly felt drained, as if every ounce of energy had left her. She couldn't bring herself to listen to Brad's explanation anymore.
Reflecting on the painful memories of their failed marriage, Nadine felt her heart twist with agony. She wanted nothing more than to leave this place to get as far away from Brad as possible and to retreat home, where she could curl up like a snail in its shell and avoid everyone and everything. Especially Brad.
Brad wanted to explain himself further, but when he noticed her worn-out expression, he swallowed the words that had been on the tip of his tongue. It was clear that she didn't want to talk anymore, so he didn't push it.
Brad opened the car door and gently shielded her head with one hand as she got in. Once she was seated, he walked around to the other side, opened the door, and climbed in.
As soon as she was inside the car, Nadine closed her eyes, her face etched with fatigue. She felt completely drained and just wanted some peace and quiet.noveldrama
Sean looked at his mother's weary face and immediately turned to his father, pointing at Nadine and silently asking, "Did you make Mommy upset?"
Brad smiled wryly and shook his head, unsure of how to respond. He could tell that no matter how hard he tried to explain himself, Nadine still believed he was defending Jean. He wished he could reach into her heart, erase Jean's name, and replace it with his own.
Sean could tell from Brad's demeanor that he had upset Nadine again. However, he chose not to say anything and sidled up to Nadine, wrapping his arms around hers and nestling against her.
He recalled how Brad used to come home late and often ignored Nadine. Back then, Nadine would hold Sean close and mumble things he couldn't fully understand. Now that his dad had upset his mom again, Sean knew he had to comfort her.
Feeling her son's warmth, Nadine forced a smile and pulled Sean into her arms, feeling a sense of calm wash over her. She planted a soft kiss on her son's round head and closed her eyes, letting herself relax.
At a time like this, all Brad needed to do was hold her close, and everything would have been okay. Sadly, he didn't understand how she felt and didn't realize that love was something that had to go both ways.
Janctera City was a popular tourist spot, bustling every weekend. Now, with spring in full bloom, everything was coming back to life. New
branches sprouted from will no
trees, and fresh green buds dotted the sycamore trees, making the city feel even more lively and beautiful.
Sebastian, knowing Nadine was feeling down, brought Nadine and Sean fishing over the weekend, claiming it would uplift their spirits and teach them patience. After accompanying Nadine to visit Adam, he drove the two of them to the lakeside.
"Trust me, Nad. Don't think about anything else. Just clear your mind and soak in the sunshine. I promise you'll feet refreshed after fishing! And if that doesn't work, I'll make it my mission to cheer you up and make you laugh. Deal?"
Ever since he learned about Brad and Nadine's divorce, Sebastian had been showing up in front of her almost every day, showering her with attention. He was single, and she was divorced; they were both available.
Even if they got together, no one could say anything about it. And if anyone had an issue with it, Sebastian would personally deal with them.
What do you think?
