Chapter 802
Chapter 802:.
Her son tugged on her arm as the woman stammered, “Let me tell Mr. Bernie.” Armand gave her a look.
“It’s because we don’t want to litigate and sue you anymore.” The one who spoke was the woman’s son.
“Why?” Armand couldn’t understand. “They were so angry before, they wanted to seek justice for the deceased even if they were going to lose everything, but they have changed their minds so suddenly?”
“There is no reason; we don’t want to sue them anymore.” He then pulled the woman and left after saying this.
Armand did not move, he had some conjectures in his mind, maybe they were bound by the power of the Day Family. He had accepted this case under pressure from those lawyers in the firm, just because he wanted to help them, but they had withdrawn when he hadn’t even withdrawn.
The woman pulled her son when she had walked a distance, then came back and leaned over to Armand, “Thank you for taking our case, there are a lot of people who are worried about getting in trouble, so they stay as far away from us as possible. We don’t want to sue them anymore, not because we don’t hate them, but because we have to move on with our lives, otherwise we won’t be able to move on with our lives.”
Tears fell again as the woman spoke. They were from a normal family; the Day Family had married their daughter during that time, just because their daughter looked pretty.
Now, the Day Family knew they wanted to sue them and expose this matter to the public, so the Day Family had pressured them, causing their son and daughter-in-law to lose their jobs already.
“We can’t offend the Day Family. It’s fine to let us suffer injustice, but my grandson is still young, he still has to study and have a bright future. We can’t make those who are still alive suffer for a person who has died, so we don’t want to sue them anymore.” The woman wiped away her tears and looked at Armand, “I still want to thank you.”
He was willing to help them even knowing that this was a difficult case. For this reason alone, she was extremely grateful to Armand.
“The reason my grandson was able to study at the Pearl School was because of the Day Family’s help, but now my grandson could be expelled from the school at any time,” the woman said with resignation.
Now they could only give in, her daughter was gone and she could not let her grandson lose his future.
They still wanted to continue their life, they could not continue their life here if they vexed the Day Family.
They did not wish to make a concession, but this world was based on survival of the fittest, did justice really exist all the time?
Armand said, “I understand.”
“Thank you.” The woman again thanked Armand sincerely. Their relatives, who were not so close to them, stayed away from them because they were worried about getting into trouble.
During the time when their daughter had just married into the Day Family, those unknown relatives had also come close to them, but now they had disappeared completely.
The fickleness of human nature, there were many people who stayed close to you when you were glorious. However, there were few who would help you when you were poor.
This was human nature, there was no one to blame.
“Don’t even mention it, I didn’t do anything,” Armand said, “Since you have decided so, I won’t intervene anymore, take care of yourself.”
“Thank you, Mr. Bernie, I…” The woman’s son opened his mouth but hesitated, “I am useless.”
He already knew that his sister’s death had been caused by the Day Family, but he had to endure the humiliation in order to survive.
Armand understood the contradiction and unwillingness in her mind; they were forced to give up. That was life; there were many times when nothing could be done.
For example, he, too, had problems and helplessness.
The woman and her son left, Armand put his arm around Theresa and headed toward the residential area.
Theresa didn’t speak the whole way. That was life, there were so many things that could not be done.
When they reached her house, Theresa closed the door; Armand hugged her once she turned around. Theresa put her hands on his chest; she lowered her voice and said, “What are you doing? You’re hugging me too tight, I can hardly breathe.”
Theresa resisted.
Armand didn’t let go, he lowered his head and put his forehead against hers, then said, “I miss you.”
Theresa stared up at him, “You see me every day, why would you miss me?”
Armand smiled, the corners of his mouth curved giving a nice angle, his eyes were brown, the pretty, flirtatious eyes were full of love, “Don’t change the subject, you know what I’m talking about.”
Theresa looked down gently, she hadn’t done that sort of thing with him since they reconciled. There was still a barrier in her, she felt she had lost an organ and was incomplete, so she had the feeling of inferiority.
“Armand, I…” She looked up, the dark eyes under the long lashes were like the calm, clear water of a lake, but inside lurked an insensitive withdrawal.
Armand kissed her on the nose gently, “I know, you’re afraid to face me, but you’re still yourself, you’ve never changed in my heart.”
Theresa bit her lips, her clenched fists slowly relaxed. Armand took her hands, thumbs stroking her palms, “Look at me.” She looked up.
Armand tilted her head down and kissed her lips, pinned her against the door and kissed her hard.
His body was hot and hard, like volcanic rock.
Theresa gasped and pushed at him, “You’re going to choke me.”
Armand laughed, “I won’t let you die.” He carried her in his arms as he spoke and laid her on the couch, then leaned over her. He looked at her carefully, her appearance was completely different from the past, except for her eyes, but he knew she was still Theresa.
He lowered her body and looked into her eyes, he said gently, “We can have a try, if you really can’t accept it, I won’t force you and let you fear.”
