Chapter 448 A Suspicious Affair
Chapter 448 A Suspicious Affair
“Him. Not again.” Boris fumed upon hearing the news. “Does he have no shame? He kept saying he liked you and even provoked me to my face. But just now, he gave up on you for Winifred. Humph! I bet he’s here to apologize to you.”
Ziana’s expression soured.
She had once harbored a crush on Edison, as she did with every handsome man she met.
But her fondness for him gradually faded as their relationship progressed and his actions repeatedly disappointed her.
Now, she regarded him as nothing more than an ordinary friend.
If it weren’t for his heartfelt letter and the fact that he had saved her and Boris five years ago, she wouldn’t have bothered coming to Wesbruck.
“Do you want to listen to his nonsense?” Boris urged her. “Have someone drive him away.”
The maid didn’t receive a response, so she asked again, “Miss Scott?”
“You may leave,” Ziana said quietly. “There is no point meeting me. Prince Edison should go see his fiancée.”
“Ziana!” Edison’s voice suddenly rose from outside. “Ziana, I’m here to apologize on her behalf. Please let me in! I have so much to say to you.”
“But I have nothing to say to you,” Ziana replied impatiently.
“Ziana! I know you’re angry with me, but please hear me out. You won’t let me in? Fine, I’ll wait. here all day if I have to. You’ll have to come out eventually. I just want to explain,” Edison pleaded stubbornly.
Boris sneered, “Don’t let him in. Let him wait outside like the mangy dog he is.”
“Ziana!” Edison continued to shout from outside.
Ziana worried that if he kept shouting like this, someone would eventually hear and word would reach Winifred’s ears, causing her to fly into another rage.
“I’m really scared!” she exclaimed in distress. “We don’t want to provoke that lunatic.”
She grabbed Boris and shoved him into the wardrobe, “Get in there! Don’t let him see you!”
Everyone knew that Boris was unhinged, and it seemed he didn’t want anyone to find out that he was faking it.
Edison knew about their past. If he saw Boris here, he might figure out something.
The wardrobe was packed with clothes, and Boris barely fit inside.
Leaning against the closet, Boris looked at Ziana with a mischievous glint in his eyes and quipped, “Isn’t this like…”
Ziana was puzzled. “Like what?”
Boris gave her a wink. “Cheating.”
Ziana was taken aback by his audacity and shot him a fiery glare, “Stay put, and don’t come out!”
“Ten minutes.” He clasped her wrist and said, “You have ten minutes to send him away, or I’ll jump out.”
Ziana knew she couldn’t afford to waste any time chatting with Edison. He was already engaged, and his fiancée was possessive and prone to jealousy. She didn’t want anything to do with that woman.
“Okay,” she muttered hastily, “now let go.”
“Kiss me.”
After planting a quick kiss on his lips, she wiped her mouth clean, shut the cabinet door, and reminded him, “Don’t make a sound.”
Boris let out a chuckle as he watched her leave through the narrow gap.
Edison was standing outside. “Ziana!”.
“Come in,” she said coldly. “You have five minutes.”
Edison followed her inside, looking apologetic. “I’m so sorry, Ziana. I didn’t know Winifred would do that. She’s always been arrogant and temperamental, but this time she went too far. She shouldn’t have dragged you into this. Are you hurt?”
“Four minutes,” Ziana reminded him, sitting down on the sofa with a stony expression.
Edison fidgeted nervously. “I’m really sorry, Ziana. I really didn’t expect that. I know you’re angry, and I apologize to you on her behalf. I hope you’ll forgive her.”
“There’s no need to apologize.” Ziana snorted dismissively, “I don’t accept it. It won’t change what happened. Apologies can’t make up for the pain. You have three minutes left. If you continue to say such nonsense, you can leave now.”
“Ziana,” Edison spoke softly, “you gotta believe me that I will never hurt you.
“Anything else?”
“Ziana, please don’t push me away. You can pour out your grievances to me.” He sat down and said
gently, “If you’re angry, vent on me. If my apology is not enough, you can hit me.”
As Edison spoke, he took a step forward, reaching out to grab Ziana’s hand.
However, Ziana swiftly dodged and knocked over the coffee on the table, spilling it all over Edison’s clothes.
“Ziana…”
Ziana snorted, “What are you doing?”
“I just want to make it up to you.”
“Okay, fine. You want to make it up to me?” Ziana lost her patience, “Then stay away from me and don’t come back. If your fiancée finds out about this, she’ll make things difficult for me. You’re getting married soon, so act like it. If you keep acting like this, it makes me sick!”
Edison hung his head in shame, his shoulders shaking. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
But suddenly, he grinned and spoke in a low voice. “So, when I pester you while engaged, you find it disgusting. But when Boris used to pester you while he was with Vivi, you didn’t find him. disgusting. Why is that? Because you like him that you can forgive him no matter what he does?”
“I find him disgusting too!” Ziana retorted immediately. “Now get out of here!”
“Ziana!”
“Leave!”
Edison pursed his lips and took a deep breath. “Sorry, I need to use the bathroom.”
Without waiting for her response, he went to the bathroom and quickly locked the door.
Ziana had just had a shower, and the bathroom was steamy,
Edison looked around and spotted some of her hair lying on the floor.
He picked up several strands and wrapped them carefully in the tissue before slipping the bundle into his pocket.
After washing his hands, he opened the door and walked out.
Ziana remained seated on the sofa, refusing to look at him.
Edison nodded at her. “Ziana, I know you’re still angry right now. But when your anger subsides, I’ll come back to make it up to you.”
Ziana didn’t respond.
Edison cast a final glance at her before turning on his heel and striding out of the room.
He kept a watchful eye on the contents of his pockets as he made his way out. Only when he had put some distance between himself and the palace did he make a call.
“I got it.”
