The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 526 My Grandma Is a Fierce Spirit Returning From the Underworld

Charlene was munching on an apple, the sound echoing in the kitchen. Her gaze was locked on Hector, unblinking. From the moment she saw him, she had noticed that Hector had the same striking eyes as Natalie.

Their eyes were almond shaped, captivating and deep, with a warmth that seemed to persist regardless of what they focused on.

Hector had glasses on, but they only accentuated the delicateness of his eyes, making him appear even more refined and gentle.

"Charlene, please stop staring at me like that," Hector said, feeling uneasy under her intense gaze. He turned his head away.

"My grandma? She's like a fierce spirit returning from the underworld," Charlene suddenly murmured.

She took a large bite of her apple and went on, "Hector, don't you think Mr. Holden Senior has some major issues?"

"I'm not concerned with the Holden family's matters. I just ask that you don't stir up trouble in the Walker family," Hector replied.

He had indeed noticed something strange about Charles. But Charles was an elder, and despite the long-standing friendship between the two families, the Walker family is still considered an outsider. Thus, he chose not to involve himself.

With Natalie and Marcus back together, the bond between their families could soon turn into an alliance through marriage, making them in-laws.

Holden Group wasn't completely under Marcus' control yet, as Charles still held onto certain family enterprises. Outsiders were unaware of these assets, but the Walker family knew all about them.

If Charles planned to challenge Marcus or back another heir, these hidden ventures would pose the greatest challenge to Marcus.

"Hector, don't you wonder why Mr. Holden Senior is so terrified of me?" Charlene asked, biting into the apple with a loud crunch. "Is it possible that you, just like Mr. Holden Senior, are scared of a young woman like me?"

After a brief pause, she added, "Why don't I introduce you to my grandma, Hector?"

After finishing the apple, Charlene tossed the core into the trash. Then, she turned back to Hector with a bright smile. "Since you're a doctor, could you check on my grandma? She's not doing so well."

"Where does she live?" Hector asked.

"In Dithoria State," Charlene replied, her eyes crinkling as she grinned. "It's my mom who lives on Scarlet Hill. Last time, Marcus tried to have people kidnap my mom, but they failed!"

She added, "The Jenkins family doesn't owe the Holden or Walker families anything. If anything, it's the other way around."

She took out her phone and dialed a number. The call connected almost immediately. "Hi, Grandma. I've already invited Mr. Hector, but I'm unsure if he'll visit you."

She hesitated for a moment and then suggested, "Why don't you speak to him yourself?"

With that, Charlene passed the phone to Hector. "Here you go, Hector. You wanted to meet my grandma, right? Now you can chat with her."

Hector gazed at Charlene, who seemed innocent and pure. For a moment, he couldn't quite believe that the young girl before him was truly only 18.

"Hello," Hector finally said, taking the phone and speaking softly. "This is Hector Walter. May I ask who I'm speaking with?"

"I'm Yvette Jenkins," the voice on the other end answered directly. "Mr. Hector, are you interested in meeting an older woman like me?"noveldrama

She continued, "I'm the one responsible for everything connected to Grace. It was my doing that led to your sister Natalie's replacement, the Langley family becoming the wealthiest in Amberton, and Selena being sold."

Yvette chuckled softly. "Mr. Hector, would you like to come meet me with Charlene now?"

"Time and location?" Hector asked.

"Charlene will guide you here," Yvette responded. "I'm eagerly anticipating our meeting, Mr. Hector."

With that, Yvette ended the call abruptly.

Hector glanced at Charlene standing before him. "I've decided. When do we leave?"

"Immediately," Charlene replied with a playful wink. "You're a good person, Hector. I genuinely like you."

"But you're part of the Walker family," Hector pointed out.

"The Walker family and the Jenkins family have always been enemies," Charlene clarified.

"Why?" Hector asked, perplexed. "As far as I know, the Walker family never did anything immoral, especially not to the Jenkins family. So, where did this conflict came from?"

"I'm not sure about that," Charlene said, shaking her head. "I'm just doing what my grandma tells me."

She added, "I'm unfamiliar with the Jenkins family's past internal matters. My mom doesn't, either. She lives on Scarlet Hill. Her role is to spread the word to gather people when the Umbrahex in Laura's body is nearing its end. That's all know."

"Let's move on," Hector said, deciding not to press her further.

He had learned how Charlene worked. When she was ready to talk, she'd open up without reservation. If she wasn't, no amount of coaxing of bribery could make her divulge anything.

Hector led Charlene from the kitchen into the living room, where only Marcus and Natalie were present. The other members of the Walker family were elsewhere.

Sky was serving time in prison. Lincoln, Timothy, and Mason were busy with their daily tasks. Meanwhite, Hector was helping Natalie investigate why she had been replaced in Amberton, which meant he wasn't attending to his duties at his hospital.

"Hector, I heard that Sky received a 20-year prison sentence, Emma got life, and Shane was given the death penalty. Is that true?" Charlene asked suddenly.

She didn't wait for an answer before adding, "And I also heard that Shane was tortured in prison before his execution. Are you aware of this?

"Emma is having a rough time. She attempted suicide multiple times because she couldn't handle it anymore. But she failed each time, leading to her being placed in solitary confinement.

"I've also heard that Sky has been on good behavior and might qualify for a reduced sentence. Is that true, Hector?"

"Where did you hear all this?" Hector asked, now realizing he shouldn't underestimate Charlene.

Initially, she came off sweet and innocent, with her charming words. Yet, it was clear that everything she said and did was deliberate. Her unexpected mention of Sky, Emma, and Shane suggested her motives were likely more complex.

"It doesn't matter how I got the info," Charlene remarked with a smile. "I'm just having a casual chat with you. No need to be so tense. Come on! Let's go meet my grandma."

"I'd like to bring Marcus and Natalie along," Hector said.

"No way," Charlene replied instantly. "My grandma insists on meeting you alone."

"However," she added with a mischievous tone, "you could suggest that Mr. Holden and Ms. Walker visit Sky in prison. They might find something new!"
