The Forgotten Titan's Resurgence

Chapter 13

"I'm telling the truth!" Gideon declared.

"You still refuse to admit it, huh?" Marion rebuked in outrage. If not for Arnold holding her back, she would've slapped Gideon already.

"Who the hell do you think you are, Gideon? How dare you doubt Matthew? Apologize to him at once!" Elara demanded in fury.

Despite being generally cool-headed, Gideon couldn't help but feel angry. Snorting, he shot back, "You're believing everything he says? You foolishly believe he received Rachel's recognition just because he says so?

"Where's the evidence? Have him call Rachel up right now.

Matthew's heart thumped nervously.

However, Marion said in distaste, "You disgust me, Gideon. You're just stubbornly refusing to admit you're wrong. Since that's the case, Matthew, call Ms. Avila right now and prove it to him!"

Matthew wanted to cry. He dared not call Rachel, of course he'd be on cloud nine if he even managed to get her number!

"Make the call, Matthew, so that we can shut him up and stop him from disgusting us with his stupidity," Elara chimed in as she shot Gideon a hateful glare.

With a solemn expression, Matthew replied, "Ms. Avila is a busy woman. There's no reason to bother her with something this unimportant, and I don't need to prove myself to anyone. If you don't believe me, I'll leave right this minute, and we can forget about the investment."

Marion hastily held onto Matthew and assured him, "Don't be angry, Matthew. You don't need to mind about what Gideon says. You're a talented young man, and he's nothing but a useless loser. He's not worth you getting upset over."

"That's right, Matthew," Elara chimed in. "You've already agreed to the investment, so you can't take it back now!

Matthew sat back down, though his posture remained stiff.

Seeing this, Marion shouted, "Gideon! Get over here and apologize to Matthew right now!"

"You want me to apologize to him?"

Gideon laughed. With an amused expression, he remarked in derision, "First of all, I'm telling the truth. Rachel doesn't even know him, let alone think highly of him. Secondly, he isn't qualified to receive an apology from me. We are worlds apart."

Elara was filled with disappointment.

The Snows were nothing more than an impoverished family now, but Gideon was still this arrogant. He had no self-awareness at all. Did he, once the most accomplished of the Four Elites of Goldspire, turn into such a self-absorbed and deluded man?

What a sorrowful thing to see.noveldrama

She agreed that Gideon and Matthew were worlds apart. Matthew was the scion of a family with hundreds of millions in net worth. So what if Gideon was the head

of the Snow family now? That only made him the head of a poor family. It counted for nothing!

Elara sneered to herself, but she realized that Gideon looked dead serious. It didn't seem like he was kidding around. Did he even manage to fool himself?

She couldn't resist asking, "Why are you so certain that Ms. Avila isn't investing in Matthew's company?"

"Because I asked her myself, and she said she doesn't even know Matthew, let alone would she invest in his company," Gideon replied.

"What did you say?"

Elara was stupefied, while Matthew started laughing. Marion couldn't be bothered to rebuke Gideon. Even Arnold's eyes flickered with disappointment, though he quickly reasoned with himself.

He figured Gideon, who'd only just returned to Goldspire, was just having a hard time adjusting to the Snow family's fall from grace. Therefore, he was trying to use his words to prove himself. That being said, words meant nothing. Gideon needed to prove himself with his actions.

Nevertheless, he spoke up to smooth things over, "That's enough. Gideon, you should head to your room and get some rest. Matthew, let's discuss the investment."

Gideon went back to his room. He'd already told the Seymours the truth, but he couldn't control what they did.

One hour later, Arnold came to Gideon's room and brought out a contract, saying, "Gideon, I just went to the bank to transfer the money to Matthew. Here's the investment contract. I've signed your name to it and invested a million in your name."

"Dad-"

"You don't need to say anything," Arnold interrupted.

He sat down and said earnestly, "I know you feel bad right now. You were once a scion yourself, but now, the Snows have fallen from grace, and you've become a laughingstock. However, you shouldn't let this get you down You need to pull yourself together and prove yourself by rebuilding the Snow family.

"I invested a million on your behalf so that you can make a profit and gather some funds to help Snow Corporation get through its difficulties. We, the Seymours, aren't that rich either, so we can't help you much. This investment is all I can do for you."

Clutching the contract, Gideon had mixed feelings. He felt warmed by the care and sincerity Arnold showed him.

Once Arnold left, Gideon got in touch with Leopold and instructed, "Investigate the Carters. I want everything there is to know about them."

Ten minutes later, Leopold sent over the information. After looking through it, Gideon scoffed.

"This explains why Matthew was illegally gathering funds under the guise of investing in his company! Carter Corporation is facing a crisis and on the verge of having its cash flow cut off. They're in urgent need of funds to keep themselves afloat."

This made things a lot more interesting.

Gideon's eyes flickered as his mind filled with various possible plans.

When he came down to the living room, he saw Elara and Matthew heading off together. Seeing Gideon, Arnold hurriedly called out, "Hang on. Take Gideon with you."

Elara pouted in reluctance.

"What is it, Dad? Where are they going?" Gideon asked.

"Matthew wants to take Ella on a tour of Beaker Island."

"Beaker Island?" Gideon repeated in surprise.

Scoffing, Elara retorted, "What's the matter? Don't tell me you forgot about Beaker Island after leaving Goldspire for five years.

“It's a restricted area, but Matthew's powerful enough to pull some strings and get the chance to take me on a tour there. If you want to come along, so be it. You can learn a thing or two."

Gideon guffawed, which made Elara ask with a frown, "Why are you laughing?"

"It's nothing."

Gideon didn't bother explaining himself. He was just about to head back to Beaker Island anyway, so he nodded and said, "How can I possibly turn down the opportunity to explore Beaker Island?"

"What do you say, Matthew?" Elara asked.

Smiling, Matthew said, "Since you're interested, Mr. Snow, I won't refuse you.

Come on. Let's go. A few other friends will be joining us."

When the three of them crossed the bridge that led to Beaker Island, they spotted a group of scions waiting in the distance.

"Matthew!"

Everyone greeted Matthew, who relished their flattery. But at the same time, he was mocking them for being fools. He'd tricked them all into pouring their money down the drain by investing with him, but they were still eagerly sucking up to him.

He thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of messing with everyone and was inwardly chortling over it. After checking the time, he said, "It's about time. Come with me, everyone. We can't drive in. We'll just have to walk into Beaker Island."

"Walk?"

Gideon looked reluctant.

"Why are you putting on airs, Gideon?" Elara snapped. "It's already an honor that

we get to enter Beaker Island. Do you want to be chauffeured around, too?"

"I can definitely arrange for a chauffeur with just a single call," Gideon grumbled.

Immediately, everyone started laughing. They eyed Gideon as though he were a fool while casting mocking looks in Elara's direction.

“Elara, what an amusing husband you have. Does he not think before he talks, or does he not have a brian at all?"

"You sure are lucky to land yourself such a great husband, Elara!"
