Chapter 1668
Mirabella paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts as she glanced over at her uncle, Chester. She figured it was as good a time as any to check his pulse, something she'd been meaning to do for a while.
With a nod, she said, "Back in the countryside, I picked up some old-school remedies from an herbalist. I remember you've got some lingering health issues. How about I check your pulse once we're done here?"
Jim was about to brush it off, but when he saw the sincerity in his niece's eyes, he found himself agreeing. "Alright."
After they wrapped up working in the garden about half an hour later, Jim handed the watering can to a servant and turned to Mirabella. "It's been ages since someone just sat and talked with me like this. I'm really glad you're here today," he said with a soft smile.
Mirabella got it. Being childless and managing a huge family estate on his own must be quite lonely.
"You should take a break every now and then," Mirabella suggested, walking alongside him. "My folks always talk about you. You should come visit when you can."
Jim just gave a small smile. "If the chance comes up."
Mirabella nodded and waited for Jim to sit down. As she rolled up her sleeves, she said, "Let's check your pulse now."
She motioned for him to place his hand on the coffee table beside him. Jim did as asked, and while she felt his pulse, he mentioned, "By the way, that herbal stuff you sent with Nick really helped. I've been feeling much better.”
Mirabella frowned a bit, realizing that Chester's condition was more complicated than she'd thought. But if Chester was willing to fight, a mix of acupuncture and herbal remedies might just turn things around.
She pulled her hand back and looked at Jim, noticing the concern in his eyes. "Is it bad?" he asked.
Mirabella took a moment, then decided to be straightforward. "It's not great. Your chest went through a lot, and you haven't been taking care of yourself. Your health is more fragile than most. If I'm right, you often have chest pain, sometimes with spasms. The meds gave you were meant to help, but you haven't been taking them regularly, have you?"
Jim was silent, taken aback by her insight. His silence spoke volumes.
The room was quiet for a while before Jim asked again, "Is it really that bad?"
He knew his own condition. If he hadn't seen that photo of Santos today, he might still be dismissive. But the thought that Hunter might still be alive had sparked a new hope.
"Yes," Mirabella confirmed, her tone serious.
Jim's face turned somber. He had more pressing matters now. Taking a deep
breath, he asked sincerely, "Can it be treated?"
Mirabella was a bit surprised. She had been thinking about how to boost his will to
live, and his question showed he was ready to fight.
Not sure what had brought about this change, but it was definitely a good thing. Mirabella thought for a moment and said, "I'll start with some acupuncture sessions over the next couple of days." noveldrama
She had her acupuncture needles with her in Merrywoods but hadn't brought them to the Davis estate. They were still at the hotel.
With a quick swipe on her phone, she sent a message to James via Messenger. After sending it, she looked back at Jim. “Uncle, can deliveries be accepted here?"
What do you think?
