Chapter 318
Chapter 318
Aurelia and Arnold had just returned to their home in Goldstone.
Chirpy, their pet parrot, flew out of the house to greet them. “You’re back, you’re back!” All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Whenever they returned home, William would stretch out his arm for Chirpy to perch on.
Kane, being a stranger and quite aloof, wouldn’t indulge in such affections with a bird.
Chirpy circled around him before flying out into the yard, calling out as if looking for his buddy, “William,
William…”
Kane knew the bird saw through him but ignored it. After all, who would care about a bird’s opinion?
He walked into the house without a second thought.
Aurelia and Arnold had their minds preoccupied, and they paid no attention to these small things.
Aurelia summoned Chirpy back and put him in his cage.
Once upstairs, she started packing their bags. The housekeepers would stay and look after the
mansion.
They didn’t know when they would be able to return to this place they truly called home.
She loved this community, where neighbors often gathered for parties and get–togethers, unlike in
Elysium, where you could live for a year and not know your neighbors.
She and Arnold took out the bottles of wine they had stored in the house, intending to bid farewell to
their good neighbors.
“William, do you want to say goodbye to Janet, Tommy, and Aron?” they were his best
friends.
Kane shook his head, “No need, we will be back soon.”
Aurelia wanted to say something but swallowed her words. She sent him to his room and then went out
with Arnold, each carrying a bottle of wine.
Once they left, Kane wandered around the house alone.
Chirpy pecked at the cage, repeating, “Liar, liar, scoundrel, scoundrel!”
Kane walked over to the cage, looking at Chirpy sternly, “I am not a liar, I am William’s brother!”
They were born of the same mother, naturally, they were brothers.
Chirpy continued to peck at the cage, as if to challenge him, “Liar, liar, scoundrel,
10:42
scoundrel!”
Kane furrowed his brows, “If you keep calling me like that, I won’t take you to Elysium to find William.”
Chirpy seemed to understand his words, and scared, he closed his beak, tucking his head into his
wings.
Kane soon found William’s room. There were many drawings and various models in the room: houses,
spaceships, tanks, fighter jets… all designed and crafted by William himself.
It seemed he, like Kane, also possessed a high IQ.
By the time Aurelia returned, he had already taken a bath and was preparing to go to bed.
Aurelia kissed his little face; he had been unusually quiet today, barely speaking. Perhaps he was
feeling under the weather?
“Honey, are you feeling okay?”
Kane shook his head. Aurelia felt his forehead, and finding his temperature normal, she was relieved.
“Tonight, can you sleep with mommy?”
Kane nodded. Ever since he could remember, he had always slept alone. He preferred his solitude and
disliked being disturbed.
Aurelia lay next to him, pulling him into her arms. Once they returned to Elysium, the most important
thing was to protect William; his face must not be exposed. If Leopold found out he was Liam, he would
surely try to take him away.
Kane rested his head on her shoulder.
Mommy’s embrace was so warm. Despite his independence and strength, deep down, he yearned for
his mother’s love, a complete home with his mother in it. How wonderful it would be if mommy could
return home to him and daddy!
But then, William would be left without a mother.
At that moment, William was on a plane flying to Elysium.
He felt a bit bored. It was strange that everyone on the plane was quiet, not even playing
games.
If mommy and daddy were here, they would be playing games, drawing, taking pictures… and wouldn’t
be bored at all.
