Chapter 226
Chapter 226
She waved him off. “No need. I’ll catch a cab.”
Amold insisted on driving her, assuring that his aunt could wait a bit longer.
Marcia watched as he drove off with Aurelia, her brow furrowing in confusion. When had her nephew
become so smitten with a woman?
On the way, Arnold couldn’t help but apologize. He had planned to take Aurelia out for dinner and a
boat ride on Moonlight Lake after. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know my aunt would show up.”
She smiled at him. “It’s all right. We can have a proper get–together when you return from Starhaven.
We’ll invite Avery too.”
“Alright.” He nodded slightly. This trip would take longer than he expected, probably more than a
month. He used to roam the world like a wild horse, free and unbridled. But now, he didn’t want to
wander too far. His heart had strings attached.
“I won’t be back until next month. Will you miss me?” He asked jokingly, trying to lighten the mood.
Aurelia joined in the banter. “If I miss you, I’ll just send you a message on WhatsApp. With the internet NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
being so advanced, we can talk anytime, even if we’re on opposite sides of the Atlantic. But there is a
time difference between us, so I’ll have to work out the best time to message you, so I don’t disturb you
in the middle of the night or while you’re working.”
Arnold chuckled, reaching out to affectionately pat her head. “You can message me anytime. Don’t
worry about the time difference. I’ll be happy to receive your messages.”
“Okay,” she replied, nodding in agreement.
After dropping her off at Rosewood Manor, Arnold returned to Moonlight Manor. Marcia was sitting on
the couch, scrolling through her phone with a cup of coffee in hand. Seeing him, she smirked. “That girl
is quite unique. Different from the others you’ve dated.”
Arnold didn’t respond, getting himself a glass of water and swiftly changing the subject. “Aunt Marcia,
why did you want to see me?”
Marcia set her coffee cup down, her expression becoming serious. “I need to introduce you to
someone.”
He was taken aback. “Who?”
Marcia replied, “Her name is Georgina, and she’s a doctor. Seven months ago, I learned that Elowen
was secretly undergoing artificial insemination. So, I bribed Georgina to use Leopold’s sperm on
another woman instead. I planned to manipulate that woman, and once the baby was born, I could use
the baby as leverage against Leopold. Bút Georgina had an accident on the day of the operation. She
suffered a head injury and fell into a coma. I don’t even know if she followed through with my plan. This
morning, I got a call from the recovery center. Georgina’s finally awake!”
Arnold was stunned. He hadn’t known about this plan. “Why didn’t you tell me something this
important?”
Marcia shrugged. “I was going to tell you once everything was settled. I didn’t expect complications.”
Arnold was somewhat helpless. It wasn’t the first time his aunt had kept him in the dark.
“Let’s go to her first.”
They drove to the recovery center in the neighboring city. In the top–floor ward, Georgina had just
finished a
bowl of beef stew.
After her injury, Marcia arranged for her to stay here in secret and handled her resignation. She faked
her
going abroad, leading everyone to believe she had left the country.
“Dr. Georgina, did you do what I asked?” Marcia asked.
Georgina nodded. “I performed artificial insemination on another woman. She was quite pretty, a virgin,
and in good health. The chances of success were high.”
“Who was this woman?” Marcia quickly asked.
Georgina massaged her throbbing forehead. “I can’t remember her name.”
Marcia frowned. She had checked the hospital records, but there were none. They must have been
deleted.
“Leopold might have found out and hidden the woman. She would be about seven months pregnant by
now. It’s almost time for the baby to be born.”
Arnold stroked his chin thoughtfully. “Or maybe it didn’t work at all. If such a woman existed, would my
cousin be so calm? Would she not want to eliminate that woman?”
Marcia called in Georgina’s primary doctor, ordering her to administer more brain–boosting drugs. She
needed Georgina to remember who that woman was!
