Chapter 843
Kari’s brow furrowed in annoyance, “How did you find out?”
Was he spying on her?
“Kari, I…” Nathan began, realizing she had gotten the wrong end of the stick. “I haven’t been spying on
you.”
“Did Megan Campbell spill the beans?”
The thought of Megan crossed Kari’s mind.
Nathan didn’t deny it.
Kari massaged her temples. “Nathan, whether Ronald and I end up together is none of your business.
Don’t forget, we’re ancient history.”
After Kari left, Nathan remained stationary, his feet unmoving for quite some time.
The early autumn night had deepened, with a heavier dew settling in. The tree-lined path was eerily
quiet, the air laced with a thin mist.
Megan stepped out of her car and immediately noticed Nathan under the tree.
She approached quickly but saw that Nathan was not himself.
“Nathan, did you need to see me about something?”
“Where did you see Kari and Ronald hanging out?”
Megan hadn’t expected this to be the reason for his visit and couldn’t hide her disappointment.
“Nathan, you came here just to ask about that?”
“What else?”
Megan pursed her lips. “Nathan, no matter what happens with Kari and Ronald, you two are done. Why
are you so hung up on…”
“Ms. Campbell.”
Nathan had heard enough and cut her off, “I won’t marry you, nor will I return to the Jarvis family. Ms.
Campbell, you can do better than me. I’d prefer it if we didn’t see each other again.”
Nathan knew what Megan was angling for.
But he could never accept her.
After Nathan left, Megan stood alone for a long time before finally making a call, “Dad, I’ve met with
Nathan, and I’m satisfied with him.”
“Alright, I’ll make my way back to H city as soon as I can.”
Joie was under 24-hour supervision, unable to step foot outside the hospital.
She was irked by the restriction, but without Isaac’s approval, she was powerless.
After several failed attempts to get his attention, she gave up.
As Grace’s health gradually improved, Joie began to scheme.
The last thing she wanted was to donate a kidney; her current agreement was solely to secure her Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
release from jail.
Despite her repeated requests to visit Grace, the bodyguard turned a deaf ear.
Joie’s tantrums eventually reached Emily.
Emily explained the situation to Grace, who finally softened, “Bring her over then.”
Joie was brought into the room and saw Grace’s frail figure. She felt no sympathy, only thinking it
served her right!
She had begged Grace for help before; she didn’t want to go to prison.
Grace had refused.
Now, karma had come full circle!
But outwardly, Joie’s eyes reddened instantly. “Grandma, how are you holding up?”
She moved to the bedside, intending to grasp Grace’s hand but hesitated at the sight of the needle
marks.
“Joie,” Grace managed a weak smile, “What brings you here?”
“Grandma, I heard about your illness, and I thought I should spend more time with you.” Joie played the
victim well, “I was wrong before; I shouldn’t have done those things, especially against my sister-in-law.
Grandma, I truly realize my mistakes now.”
Her sister-in-law was none other than Brittany.
“Grandma, rest assured, once you’re back on your feet, I’ll take good care of you. I won’t mess up
again.”
Grace felt a mix of disappointment and affection for Joie.
Seeing her willingness to change touched her.
Concerned about the kidney donation, she hesitated, “Joie, you’re still so young. If you donate a kidney
to me, it might affect your health.”
