Chapter 3471 Delivered Right to Him
At the edge of Larch Island and Ore Island, a 550-yard-wide river separated the two landmasses.
Matthew Larson stood at the bank, his gaze sweeping over the distant shore. With a slight push off the ground, he launched himself into the air like a soaring crane, heading straight for the opposite bank.
For a grandmaster like Matthew, crossing a 550-yard river was an easy feat. However, as he reached the midpoint, a shadow suddenly emerged from the depths below. In an instant, a massive, gaping maw broke the surface, lunging straight at him. Matthew's brows furrowed slightly.
"Ha!"
A surge of violent inner energy exploded outward. The creature's jaws and the rest of its body-were instantly obliterated into chunks of flesh. Landing gracefully on the bank of Ore Island, Matthew cast a glance back at the river, where a frenzy of fish swarmed to devour the remains.
Sharks in such a narrow river? Matthew thought, his gaze lingering briefly before he leaped forward. His figure became a blur as he raced through the dense forest, deftly navigating the towering trees.
Ore Island was unfamiliar territory for Matthew, and Bram hadn't provided him with a map. Since Ore Island's residents rarely ventured to smaller places like Larch Island, there wasn't a detailed map of Ore Island available back home. All Matthew knew was that the Governor's Keep was at the center of the island, and the stone market he sought was located on the southern edge.
Glancing up at the sun, Matthew oriented himself and began heading south at a rapid pace.
As he moved, the forest thinned out, and soon, he landed lightly on a gravel road. Ahead, a burly man swaggered down the path, clutching a large machete. The man froze momentarily when he saw Matthew drop from the sky, but his surprise quickly gave way to a sinister grin as he noticed Matthew's fine clothing.
"Hey, kid! See this blade? If you want to stay alive, hand over everything valuable on you!"
As for letting Matthew go, such a thought never crossed his mind. With Matthew's handsome looks, the man figured he could fetch a good price, selling him to a club. He didn't even consider the possibility that Matthew might be froma powerful family. After all, anyone of real importance would have been surrounded by bodyguards and escorts.
Matthew, meanwhile, had been wondering how to find his way to the stone market. It seemed fate had delivered a guide right to him.
Their gazes locked. Matthew's expression was calm, devoid of fear or concern.
The man glanced at his machete, gleaming in the sunlight. Has my blade lost its intimidation factor? he wondered.
In the next moment, he realized why Matthew wasn't afraid.
"Ah... spare... spare me..." the man stammered, his bravado evaporating as Matthew's hand closed around his throat. He hadn't even had time to react.
Matthew's slender fingers gripped
the man's neck effortlessly. As the man's face turned red and he began pleading for his life, Matthew spoke softly. "Trying to rob me, huh?"
The man's face paled further as he babbled, "Sir, I was just joking! Please, let me go I'll give you all my money!"
Matthew smiled faintly, a disarming warmth in his expression.noveldrama
"Don't be afraid. Just tell me where I can find Angus Lopez at the stone market, and I'll let you go unharmed. How about that?"
The man nodded frantically, pointing
down the road. "If you're looking for
Angus Lopez, just follow this path straight ahead. At the fork, take a right and keep going until you reach the stone market. His shop, Lopez Mining Group, is the third-to-last one on the main street."
What do you think?
