Chapter 3470 Mr Larden Is the Most Suitable
"No
way!"
A loud commotion echoed through the Governor's Keep.
"How could you send Matteo alone to another island?! Even if we need to buy materials, we could send someone else instead, couldn't we?" Allyson glared at Bram, looking like she was about to take a swing at him.
Negotiating for supplies on another island wasn't a simple errand, yet Bram had suggested Matthew handle it as though it were routine.
"Governor, no one on this island aside from Mr. Larden can successfully procure the materials from a place like Ore Island," Bram responded, unfazed by Allyson's anger.
Despite her fury, Bram didn't show a trace of regret. They were but a nameless island, barely worth mentioning in the West Montiria Islands. Sending anyone else to negotiate with an island as resource-rich and powerful as Ore Island would be a fool's errand. On this entire island, only Matthew had the strength, skill, and enigmatic reputation to stand a chance. If anyone could secure the needed materials, it would be him.
Bram wasn't being deceitful-he did know Angus. But their acquaintance was from years ago and limited to only a few fleeting interactions. Whether or not Angus would help now was entirely up to Matthew's abilities.
"Governor, it's time we gave this island a proper name," Bram said, changing the subject. "The old governor never named it, but you can't delay this any longer."
Allyson hesitated, her frustration momentarily giving way to contemplation. It was true-her father had never named the island, and it had always puzzled her. Now that it was her responsibility, she couldn't keep procrastinating. She fell into deep thought, sorting through potential names in her mind. One by one, she dismissed them. Finally, her pale cheeks turned a shade of pink as a name came to her.
"How about... Larch Island?" she suggested tentatively. "The island has so many trees; it seems fitting to name it after them."noveldrama
"Sorry?" Bram's previously composed demeanor vanished. His small, round eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Allyson.
You're saying the 'Larch' refers to the trees? Really? If trees are your reasoning, why not call it Forest Island? That makes way more sense!
Seeing the skepticism in Bram's expression, Allyson felt as though her little secret had been laid bare. Embarrassed and flustered, she snapped, "Bram! From this moment, you're in charge of promoting the island's new name. By sundown today, I want signs reading Larch Island' posted at every edge of the island!"
Bram sighed deeply at her obviously annoyed tone. Great, more grunt work for the Island Watch chief.
"Yes, Governor. I'll have it done by tonight," he replied with a resigned tone before trudging off to carry out the task.
Left alone in the sitting room, Allyson's cheeks burned brighter as she thought about what she'd just done. What's wrong with me? Why does that guy keep popping into my mind?
Matthew's image replayed in her
thoughts his calm demeanor, his direct words, and most vividly, the sight of his broad back when he had entrusted Casimir Falkrenn to her care.
If Bram had been present, he would have surely muttered to himself, The governor has ultimately fallen into the ocean of love!
Snapping herself out of her reverie,
Allyson slapped her warm cheeks lightly. Her expression turned
serious as she grabbed the stack of documents on the table. If Matthew had entrusted the island to her, she was going to prove herself worthy of that trust.
What do you think?
