Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 1676

Jackson's face seemed to light up, maybe because he finally had someone he could lean on. His gaze was fixed on Fiona, his eyes filled with warmth.

"Fiona," he murmured, his voice so soft it could melt the hardest of hearts.

"I'm here," Fiona whispered back, staying quietly by his side.

It was probably the first time in years Jackson felt so at ease. When he first joined the Woods family's branch in the city, he had to hustle nonstop to make his mark, leaving no room for rest. But now, after all those years, they finally had a breather.

Fiona got him, and even more, she understood all the struggles they'd been through.

"Big brother, this is just the beginning. We'll head to the States and dig up the truth. No one's going to stop us, and no one's going to hide what happened."

Fiona was spot on, and Jackson knew it. For now, he was just savoring the moment.

Noticing the cold plate on the table, she chuckled, "Haven't been eating well, huh? You've lost some weight."

Her heart ached a bit as she called out to the staff to bring over some fresh food. Soon, a steaming bowl of chicken and corn chowder arrived.

"Your favorite," she coaxed, feeding Jackson spoonfuls like he was a kid.

After finishing, Jackson leaned back on the couch and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

It was clear he hadn't been resting well, looking completely worn out. If someone as tough as Jackson was this exhausted, Kimberly and Nash couldn't be faring much better.

Watching Jackson sleep, Fiona tried to gently slip her hand away, but he woke up instantly, looking at her with confusion and a touch of sadness.

"I'm not leaving, just getting you a blanket," she whispered, worried her words might upset him.

"Fiona, don't leave me," he pleaded, his voice hoarse and a bit choked up, stirring compassion in her heart.

When she woke up, Jackson was already awake, watching her with a playful twinkle in his eyes.

Their eyes met, and a soft warmth enveloped them both.

"Did you sneak a picture of me?" Fiona teased, peering up at him from the couch.

The click of his phone had given him away.

"Who's looking after whom here?" Jackson chuckled.

Suddenly, Fiona felt something amiss, touched her chin, and realized she'd been drooling in her sleep.

"Don't look! You're teasing me!" she blurted, embarrassed.

"Fiona, you're just too cute," he said.

Her cheeks flushed bright red.

Grabbing a few tissues, she wiped her mouth, quickly got up, and made a hasty exit from the study, feeling sheepish.

Stepping out, she saw Kimberly and Nash in the living room downstairs. Kimberly didn't seem to find her presence, but Nash immediately perked up, his earlier tension and worry easing away.
