Chapter 73
Unice’s PoV
After we made an appointment at the ob-gyn and had my physical check-up with a physician to check the symptoms of being pregnant, the doctor said I would return to the hospital. I was scheduled to meet an ob-gyn which she referred to. It was confirmed that I’m pregnant, and she told me to take nutritious food, and I can’t have hard sex for now. It’s best to not have sex.
“We’ll have to return here for your ob-gyn appointment. Do you want to eat first? Given that it is already lunchtime,” Zoey inquired as we walked down the hospital’s hallway. Tom followed us, and Justin waited for us in the parking lot.
“I’m going to tell you something first, Zoey,” I said as we stepped into the elevator.
“What exactly is it?” As the elevator door closed, Zoey inquired.
“It’s about Ace; he’s been transferred to the Urea Mental Hospital, and I need to go there right now to see if he’s okay,” I explained, and she was speechless; she didn’t say anything.
“I understand that, but we need to eat first. Your baby needs it, and you also need it, plus we’ll be back here,” Zoey suggested, and I agreed.
“Okay, let’s eat first; you choose where we’re going to eat,” I said, and she picked up her phone. The elevator door opened, and we were now at the ground floor parking lot.
“Tom, if you don’t mind, please inform Ace’s psychologist that you are with me; I don’t think they will recognize my face,” I asked, hoping this plan would work.
“All right, I’ll call him first, then we’ll eat, and then we’ll go to Ace,” he assured, picking up his phone and dialing Ace’s Psychologists.
Walking back to Zoey, she shows me the restaurant where we’ll be eating.
“Here! Do you want to eat here because it’s unlimited rice?” Zoey pointed this out to me.
“Sure, let’s eat there; it doesn’t matter where we eat as long as we eat, right? But I think I’ll just eat, not too much, just enough.” I said to her, and we went inside the Humvee.
Tom entered the car a few minutes after the call, and Justin was the one driving. Zoey told Justin the location of the restaurant where we were going.
“How was the earlier call?” I inquired of Tom.
“So far, the boss was just finished answering the question about the mental evaluation tests. The psychologist’s name is Dr. Henry Cerpence,” Tom explained, and I nodded. After a few minutes on the road, we arrived at the restaurant, Justin opened the door for me, and I walked out.
We approached the waiter to reserve a table for four, and Zoey was the one who spoke with him. We entered the restaurant after Zoey and the waiter. The waiter brought us each a menu, and I sat down first before looking through it.
“We’ll eat whatever you order,” I looked at Zoey as Tom said, and they set down the menu.
The restaurant was serving unlimited java rice and unlimited steak, which I wanted to try just for a change. They were also serving sizzling plates, all-day breakfast, and drinks.
“Choose whatever you want to eat; I know you’ll eat a lot while pregnant,” Zoey teased, and I simply chose what to eat. It also includes unlimited java rice and steak.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
They have set up A, B, and C with drinks. I believe it is safe to order Set B because it includes a variety of foods. I poked Zoey, and she turned to look at me. I pointed to Set B, and she smiled.
“Let’s order that. It looks delicious,” she suggested, raising her hand to call the waiter.
While she was taking our order, I took out my phone and went through the gallery photos, where I saw Ace and me taking selfies with food and also taking a picture in the mall. I just smiled because I remembered our happy days and went to the text messages we had. I still have the message, possibly because Ace’s phone was still at the police station.
Because he prepared everything, he may have deleted everything in there, including our picture and text message, and re-formatted it. Still, if someone recovers the phone, it will have a chance to take the deleted message, files, and pictures, which is additional evidence.
After 30 minutes of waiting, the food arrives. I smell the delicious food and wish Ace was here to eat with us. I miss him terribly, but I’m going to see him today; I’m sure he’ll be surprised to see me.
“Let’s go eat now!” Zoey said, and we began to eat; however, while I was eating, I heard a phone call and saw Tom pick up the phone.
“Good day, Dr. Henry.” Ace’s doctor called, and I am afraid something terrible will happen to him.
“Relatives? He doesn’t have one, but since I’m his friend, does he require relatives?” I was drinking ice cold ice tea while Justin and Zoey were listening in on the conversation and taking a bit.
“I know someone he knows, but it has to be kept secret because Ace was afraid that the girl he loves would be arrested because of what he did,” Tom said, looking at me.
“Okay, I’ll let her know I appreciate the call,” Tom said as he hung up the phone.
“You will tell the truth. It will be kept secret because our boss is already a patient at a mental hospital. Are you going to tell the truth, Miss Unice?” Tom asked, and I nodded.
“If it means keeping it a secret, then I’m willing to tell everything; I love Ace, and I won’t let him do this because I know he’s afraid I’ll get arrested,” I explained to them, and he nodded.
I keep eating while wondering if Ace is okay, and when I’m done, I’m full, so I touch my tummy, and Zoey touches it as well, and I look at her, relieved but a little worried.
“I’m so excited to see your baby, Unice. Don’t worry, we’ll get through this.” Zoey reassured me, and I just smiled. Maybe I’ll ask Ace what name to give our baby, whether a boy or a girl, but that will all depend on the ultrasound.
“I’m hoping for a girl!” Zoey made a remark.
“We’ll know soon enough that we need to wait,” I replied, and Justin called the waiter because we were going to pay.
I take out my wallet because I’m going to pay for it. Ace left me a lot of money. I can’t believe he has so much money. It was inherited by his parents, and he’s using it for me. It makes me sad.
After I paid the waiter, we stood up, and Zoey helped me stand up; she looked after me because I was pregnant. We leave the restaurant, and I’m the first to get into the Humvee and buckle my seat belt, followed by Zoey, Tom, and Justin. Justin started driving, and they were talking in the front.
“I’m not going to the mental hospital because you’re the two going in, right?” Zoey inquires, and I look at her.
“That’s right, wait for me,” I said, and she nodded. A few minutes later, we arrived at the Urea Mental Hospital.
It was a massive facility; I’m curious where Ace is in this structure.
Justin parked the Humvee, and I unbuckled my seat belt before Tom opened the door, and we began walking while Justin and Zoey waited at the car. We went inside, and I heard someone scream, followed by some people talking and others remaining silent.
“Good afternoon! Do you have an appointment?” The medical expert confronts us.
“Ace Shelton is the patient’s name. I’m his friend, and this is his girlfriend, and we’ve come to see Dr. Henry,” Tom responded. The nurse helped us, and we followed her.
While walking, I noticed various types of patients in the facility, which broke my heart. Some had mental instabilities, others were losing their minds, and others didn’t know what was happening. I saw the doctor outside of one room with two nurses, one of whom was a man, and the doctor looked at me.
“Are you Unice Venixe and Tom Eandar? Hello, my name is Dr. Henry, and I’d like to welcome you here.” As he introduces, this must be Dr. Henry, Ace’s psychologist. He’s probably in his 50s based on his age.
“Does he happen to be in this room?” Dr. Henry nodded as Tom inquired.
“Glad you can make it. Ace told me to let the girl in except for you. We will wait here outside if you don’t mind. Don’t worry, no harm will come to her,” Dr. Henry explained, and Tom nodded because I was going inside.
I opened the door and saw Ace sitting on his bed, facing the window; I closed the door and approached him slowly.
“Ace, I’m here now,” I whispered, and he slowly looked at me, a wound on his face, possibly from a fight while in prison.
Ace stood up and immediately hugged me; I was taken aback and hugged him back.
“I’d miss you! How are you doing? Is everything okay? I told my doctor everything, and I’m afraid you’ll be arrested; I don’t trust him; what should I do?” Ace inquired.
“Don’t be concerned about me. The doctor called Tom and told us that it would be kept private; I assumed that I would be the one to reveal the truth. Since I was under the impression, you couldn’t tell the truth?” I asked him if I could see the worry on his face.
“Dr. Henry informed me that it was part of my mental health evaluation and needed to come out. Otherwise, I will be worried about it forever,” Ace said as I let go of his hug and turned to face him.
“You still look handsome. I knew you’d get into a fight because you’re arrogant,” I teased him, and he laughed.
“I don’t want to think about that; instead, let’s talk about our baby. Dr. Henry was also aware of it because I told him that I hoped the police and my lawyer would not come here now that the truth had been revealed,” Ace declared, and I’m hoping this doesn’t change our plans.
