Chapter 2091
Stella lowered her eyelashes, staying silent.
She took her time finishing her meal until the driver stood by her side, clearly signaling it was time to leave.
She glanced at Beck, but he wasn't looking at her, engrossed in his laptop.
Sighing inwardly, Stella gave him one last deep look before she got up and followed the driver.
As her car was about to leave the estate, she noticed another car driving in.
A sudden curiosity overcame her; she wanted to see what Beck's date looked like.
Probably someone elegant and sophisticated, right? That seemed to be Beck's
type.
Lowering her eyelashes again, she cracked open the window.
But the passing car had its doors shut tight, leaving her clueless about its occupants.
The driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
Worried about being discovered, Stella rolled up the window.
"Let's go."
The driver pressed the gas, and the car slowly left the area.
Back at Boris's mansion, Stella felt oddly out of sorts, finding no joy in anything, her thoughts constantly drifting back to Beck.noveldrama
She had countless flings but never fell in love; men were tools to be used, not recipients of her scarce affections.
Especially not Beck. He was a legitimate heir of the Sanders family, born with a silver spoon, never knowing hardship.
The thought was both amusing and bitter.
In the evening, Dave called her.
"Stella, Morgan got picked up by Jason's guys. Bet he's scared witless now,"
Dave laughed, expecting Stella to join in, but she remained silent.
After a pause, he asked, "You feeling alright?"
"Could you tell?"
"It's obvious. You used to find Morgan's misfortune hilarious."
Stella stared at the whiskey in front of her, a prized possession of Boris, but
tonight, all she wanted was to drink alone in silence.
"Dave, I feel like I'm the one who's truly unlucky here."
Dave lit a cigarette, adopting a wise tone.
"What, did someone run through your money?"
Stella was always goal-driven, her greatest loves being money and revenge. For
her to be this upset, it must be about money.
Caught off guard, Stella didn't know how to respond.
Dave remained silent, then cautiously asked, "The Sanders family isn't giving you the shares, huh?"
"It's not that, Dave. Let me ask you something."
"What's up?"
"Ever been in love?"
Dave straightened up, suddenly serious, "Nope. If you're about to say you've fallen for Beck or someone drop it. Don't you feel it? You're not
with someone else is just
going to last long, getting Red
irresponsible."
All of Stella's fleeting thoughts vanished, and she laughed.
"I was joking. Actually, it's about these guys I've been leading on, they keep wanting a real relationship, and I've never been in one. How would I know how to do that?"
Dave also relaxed.
"You could give it a try with them; after all, it's always been casual for you."
"Yeah, just casual. Now it's backfiring on me. Maybe I deserve it, Dave."
Dave felt there was more to her words but lacked the emotional insight, having never been in love himself.
"Now that you've finally made it into the Sanders family, don't mess up your good fortune. Beck is a decent guy, but if you can use him, don't hesitate."
"Yeah, I know. I've always been using him. Beck, well, he's kind of dumb, can't
bring himself to be harsh with me."
What do you think?
