Chapter 1959
As soon as he held her on his legs, his eyes fell on the bed. He held her tightly and didn't ask any more questions. However, his subconscious was so deep- rooted that he still felt that the little boy in front of him was not her brother, but her son!
Carolien returned to bed after hugging him for a while. Elijah fell asleep on the sofa that night.
The next morning, he was woken up by a series of crackling noises. Opening his eyes, he saw Carolien measuring the little boy's body temperature, while the little boy was kicking the little doll in his arms on the bed, throwing a tissue box and a cotton swab box to the ground.
"Alistair, stop fooling around!"
Carolien scolded in a low voice and bent over to pick up the objects on the ground. "Be good, listen to me."
"Carol, why don't we go home?" Leaning on Carolien's body, Alistair rubbed her head and pouted as he looked at Elijah.
"Alistair, listen to me. We'll have to go to the hospital after dinner. This place is close to the hospital. If your fever is gone, we'll be able to return home soon! So, you can't lose our temper and throw things away. Do you understand? Uncle's things here are extremely expensive and we can't afford to pay for them!"
Carolien coaxed him in a low voice, holding one of his arms. "Let's wash your face and change your clothes first. I'll make delicious egg and vegetable pancakes for you later, okay?"
The child nodded obediently and pouted unhappily. Carolien didn't know why he didn't like Elijah so much. When she turned her head, she gave a harsh stare at someone and hinted that he was not allowed to speak. When she saw that he still had a slight fever, she put away the thermometer and then took Alistair to wash up.
She busied herself and packed up for the child. Only then did she signal Elijah with her eyes. She led the child to the door and said, "We're going to make a good meal. We won't let Uncle eat it!"
When Alijah finished washing up and went downstairs, he could already smell the aroma coming from the kitchen. Upon entering the dining room, he saw Carolien, who was busy wearing an apron. Sitting by the dining table was a little boy, munching on a soft bun. When he saw him, his eyes widened as if he was a young cub seeing his enemy.
Putting the vegetables on the table, Carolien even gave Alistair a spoon. "Be careful. It's hot. Slow down!"
Seeing that Elijah had also come down, Carolien said to him, "I'll make you a cup of coffee and get you a plate. Help me look after him!"
When Carolien brought some coffee and food over, she saw that the large plate of vegetables she had cooked was moved to Alistair's side. He was eating it while guarding it with the other hand, obviously refusing to allow Elijah to touch it!
Carolien knocked her head and had a headache. "These two are not on good terms!"
Then, she could only say, "I've fried eggs and pancakes, I'll bring them to you later!"
As soon as she picked up the coffee, Alistair's eyes widened and he almost jumped up from the chair. She raised her hand and looked at him. "This is a very bitter medicine. You can't drink it. Let uncle drink it!"
The child blinked his eyes as if he didn't believe it. Carolien picked up the fork that she hadn't used before and dipped a little, then put it to Alistair's lips, letting him lick it with his small tongue. Following which, he wrinkled his small face and turned his head away. In an instant, Carolien broke into a smile.
"I'll get you a new fork!"
As soon as she turned around, Elijah grabbed her hand and took the fork. He actually didn't mind?
Unexpectedly, Carolien was also in a good mood in an instant. She turned around and started to busy herself again. In a short while, she brought over the eggs, ham and some pancakes.
When she went back and finished cooking the rest, she saw that all the food on the table had been pulled to the side by Alistair. He held the plates in one hand and fed himself with the other hand. Other than a plate of eggs and a cup of coffee, there was nothing left for Elijah. On the other side, she stared at him with an extremely unhappy and helpless expression.
"Ha ha..."
After serving himself another plate, Carolien smiled. As soon as she sat down, Alistair pushed the egg, ham, and vegetables to her side.
"Carol, let's eat! It's delicious!"
As he spoke, he also scooped up a spoonful of vegetables and put them onto his plate.
Smiling uncontrollably, Carolien looked sympathetically at Elijah on the other side and said,
"We won't be able to finish eating so much either. Why don't we give some to Mr. Luther? Mr. Luther will get sick if he's hungry! You can't eat too oily now, and your throat will be uncomfortable. The pancakes are for Uncle, so we can only eat a little of them like fried eggs! You should eat more vegetables to get well soon! When you're better, I'll specially make even more delicious egg ham pancakes for you, okay?"
Feeling a little unhappy, the little boy blinked his big eyes.
Carolien approached the little boy and deliberately lowered her voice.
"I left all the delicious food for you. The less tasty food is for Uncle. Otherwise, Uncle would steal your delicious food if he gets angry! You will lose it! Eat quickly, don't make Uncle angry. We can't let him know that he gets all the greasy food!"
She secretly stuffed a flower-shaped bun into the child's mouth, and Carolien took the opportunity to push the pancakes and ham to Elijah.
Then, the child ate happily and looked at Elijah from time to time, with his eyebrows full of complacency. Perhaps it was to prevent Elijah from eating his exclusive dishes. In the end, he and Carolien ate up a plate of green vegetables, and the only thing left was soup.
Seeing that the child ate more than before, Carolien was also very happy. She wiped the child's mouth and did not forget to praise him.
"Wow, Alistair is so awesome!"
As he looked at the two of them from the start to finish, Elijah couldn't take his eyes off them. A thought continuously emerged in his mind: A woman and child didn't seem to be as bad as he thought! She was definitely a good mother! If it was his woman and child...
After eating and packing up everything, Carolien went back to the room and packed up the child's things. When she turned around, she saw that Elijah was still there. She was stunned for two seconds.
"Aren't you going to work?"
Although it was Saturday, he seldom had time. And that day, she had to accompany the child to the hospital, and she had no time to accompany him!
He suddenly came to his senses and went forward. Elijah took the two bags from her hand and said, "Aren't you going to the hospital? How can you do it alone?" She was in a flurry with a child!
She was obviously stunned for a moment. Before Carolien could react, Elijah had already taken the key and walked towards the door. She was pleasantly surprised and then took Alistair out of the door.
They drove all the way into the
hospital. When they reached the door, Alistair had fallen asleep, and obviously, he didn't want to go down After a long time, Carolien was sweating all over and didn't take him down. Finally, Elijah said,
"Let me do it!"
"No way!"
The little fella lost his temper. Elijah pulled at his wrist and directly pressed down on him. "You really are a little brat! Don't you know how
heavy you are? Are you trying to exhaust your older sister to death?"
The implication was that he would leave if he was not allowed to carry him!
Stunned by Elijah's words, Carolien gave him a hard pinch behind him. "What did you call him? It's unpleasant! He has a name, Alistair!"
The next second, unexpectedly, the guy's face fell.
After carrying the child out of the car, Elijah also curled his lips. "If you're obedient, then it's Alistair. If you aren't obedient, then it's little brat!"
Elijah had been used to carrying a child because of Yvette. Carrying a child was not difficult for him.
After kicking around, Alistair coldly snorted and turned his head away. However,
he firmly hugged his neck and pressed against his body, as if he wanted to crush him to death.
As their eyes met, Elijah's face darkened. Carolien could not help but smile.
In the end, Elijah carried the child into the hospital's consulting room. Carolien
followed behind him, carrying lots of bags.
After lining up for a while and taking
a blood test for the child, they took the medicine and went to get an infusion. Originally, she wanted to Elijah go do his work, but he just answered two phone calls and stayed with them. Although he didn't go very often, he could help take care of the child, which made Carolien very touched. What she feared most was that the child would get sick, and this was the most tired time of her life.
Fortunately, Alistair could still be considered to be okay. After two infusions, his
fever was gone. The doctor also said that there was no need to come again.
On the way home, Elijah bought two sets of expensive toys for his child. He immediately coaxed the little fellow to recover, and even let him call himself 'uncle'.
When they separated, Elijah suddenly remembered something and said, "There
will be a party next Saturday evening. It's the anniversary celebration of our company. Let's go to have some fun!"
She was shocked again and her heart beat faster. Carolien's eyes widened a little.
"Me?"
Was this bringing a plus one? To a company event?
"Why, do you have plans, or you don't want to go?"
Carolien shook her head violently. The corner of her lips curled up into a stiff
smile. "I want to go! But-"
It would be embarrassing if she went there, wouldn't it?
Joy and sorrow were mixed together. For the first time, Carolien hesitated, not knowing whether she should go or not!
He raised his hand to stroke her face and said, "Don't think too much! What are
you afraid of with me around? If you want to go, then go. If you don't want to go, then forget it!"
It was his company's event. Did he need to look at others' faces? He would be with whoever he wanted!
Carolien smiled and nodded heavily. "Yes."
Go!
She was going!
What did other people's judgment mean? If he didn't mind, then she didn't!
He pinched her jaw and glanced at the little guy who was playing happily on the
ground. Elijah bowed his head and stole a kiss on her lips. "I won't disturb you these two days! Call me if anything happens!"
"All right!"
Pulling his hand, Carolien reluctantly clenched it. "Drive slowly on the road. Paynoveldrama
attention!"
What do you think?
