Your Love Is But a Dream (Clara and Wren)

Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Wren forced himself to endure the pain and face the situation, though he couldn't bring himself to look Katrina in the eye.

"I know everything you said is true. It's my fault. I messed up, and that's why things have come to this. But I never wanted to hurt Clara!

"When she's in pain, I feel it a thousand times worse! I wish I could tear my own heart out just to take her pain away! But I can't..."

His voice cracked, and tears streamed down his face. "I know no amount of words can make up for what I owe her, but Katrina, I can't live without Clara.

"She's been a part of my life for 15 years. I watched her grow from a little girl into a beautiful young woman. I waited for her all these years, and she became a part of me. She's in my bones, my blood, and my soul. I never once thought she'd leave me. Not ever."

The years of bottled-up emotions finally spilled out, his voice trembling as he let out everything he'd kept buried, with tears streaming down his face.

Over the years, he had watched Clara's radiant smile dim, and the once-bright girl had grown quieter and more withdrawn. This tore him apart more than anyone could ever know. Wren's pain was never any less than Clara's.

Katrina had never seen Wren so unhinged and so raw with emotion. In her memory, he had always been stoic and composed, even after losing his mother as a child. But now, she had to admit that Clara meant far more to Wren than she'd ever realized.

If that were true, then why had Wren chosen Ivy? Why had he pushed Clara away in the first place?

Katrina suspected there was more to the story, but now wasn't the time to dig deeper.

She sighed softly, watching Wren crumble under the weight of his emotions. Opening her desk drawer, she pulled out the items Clara had left for him before she left.

"Clara asked me to give you these before she left." She placed a bank card and a neatly wrapped gift box on the desk before Wren.

"Clara said to wish you a happy life. This is her engagement gift for you and Ivy. The money in this card is from the dividends she earned from her shares in the company. She wanted to repay you for everything you've spent on her over the years."

Katrina paused, her tone steady but heavy. "She also asked me to tell you that she's let go of you completely. She won't cling to you anymore. From now on, she'll only think of you as a brother.

"She said the things from the past were just the foolishness of her youth and asked you not to dwell on them."

Wren's eyes fell on the items on the desk. His entire body trembled, as if he'd seen something that terrified him to his core, and the color drained from his face.

"I won't accept these."

His voice came out hoarse, sounding like his throat had been scraped raw. "I don't want these things. I just want Clara back! If she has something to say, she should say it to my face!

Katrina's expression shifted, her tone hardening as she said, "Wren, you were the one who pushed her away. What's the point of chasing after her now?

"She's worked so hard to move on. I hope you can respect her decision and leave her alone. Just like she respected your choice to be with Ivy.

"Let it go. You can still be family."

"Katrina!" Wren interrupted, his voice thick with anguish. "I can't let go! I won't! Clara can't live without me, and I can't live without her.noveldrama

"I don't believe she's really given up on me. She's just confused right now. She won't leave me forever. Regardless of how you feel about me, I'll find her and bring her back!"

Katrina's brows furrowed deeply. She hadn't expected the usually calm and composed Wren to be so stubborn and obsessive, refusing to listen to anything.
