When Love Breaks (Josephine)

"We are." Josephine didn't hide it. "I knew him before I met Zayn. When I was working overseas, he wrote a song for my movie."

Ethan didn't believe that was the extent of their relationship, but he smartly chose to stop there.

At their current relationship level, it was good enough that she was willing to share as much.

If he pressed further, she might put up her guard.

"The two of you have been friends for a long time. I shouldn't have thrown a tantrum because of such a small matter."

Josephine burst out laughing. "So, you were throwing a tantrum? I couldn't tell. I didn't expect you to have such a childish side."

Ethan pursed his lips.

"I have many different sides. The gentle and refined side you see is just a small part of me."

Even if he said so, she still thought he was gentle and refined.

He was also surprisingly good at buttering people up.

"By the way, do you remember the sweets that I got you that time? The bakery isn't far from here. Why don't we go have a look?"

"Absolutely."

Josephine's eyes lit up.

She was still craving something. If she could have a slice of delicious cake, she would be satisfied.

"Lead the way."

Ethan put his hands in the coat pockets and walked in front, while Josephine followed behind him.

It was already past 11:00 pm, so there were hardly any cars and people on the streets. The streetlights radiated a warm glow, illuminating the path just for them.

The feeling of the cool air brushing against their faces was refreshing.

Josephine couldn't remember the last time she had such a casual stroll on the streets. It must've been more than three years ago.

Ever since she'd become Mrs. Forbes, she wasn't allowed to do things that were not befitting of her status.

She was supposed to be composed and elegant. Most importantly, she had to maintain the image of a high-profile wife.

But now, all she wanted to say was that she was done pretending.

She was Josephine Dunn, Director Jo. She wanted to go back to being the free-spirited girl who liked to run around with a camera in hand before she married Zayn.

Perhaps she was too excited. When she saw that the pedestrian light was about to turn red, she grabbed Ethan, who was planning to slow down and dashed across the road.

Ethan was startled. Before he could react, his legs moved on their own, and he ran across the street with her.

"That was dangerous."

He blurted that out but even he could sense the amusement in his own voice.

Josephine held his arm, gasping for air. Then, she put on a bright smile. "But we made it, didn't we? Even if a car had hit us, it would have hit us

when the lights were green. They would have been at fault, not us."

Ethan thought of refuting her nonsensical claim but when he heard her say "we"

repeatedly, he was so happy that he dismissed the idea.

Once she caught her breath, Ethan continued walking. After taking a few steps, her phone rang.noveldrama

"It's Mason."

She put the call on the loudspeaker.

"Ms. Dunn, check your phone! Search for Zayn Forbes. Do it now!"

"What for?"

"Something big happened! Ms. Dunn, just do it."

Upon hearing his anxious tone, Josephine felt uneasy. She quickly used her

phone and searched "Zayn Forbes".
