What Separates Me and You

Chapter 303

Chapter 303

Chapter 303 Game of the Rich

Sierra was hoping to hear Lewis’ answer. Instead, he just pulled out his phone and dialed.

Gerald’s number.

“Call an ambulance right now.”

As time passed, Sierra’s vision started becoming more and more blurry. Her eyelids became heavier as well. Even when she was dying, she still couldn’t see any expressions on the man’s face.

Would he continue to look unaffected when she would be dying soon?

Sierra knew that the so-called affection and concern Lewis displayed in front of her in the past was nothing but a hallucination.

It was her fault for taking him seriously.

The woman could no longer withstand the exhaustion anymore. She slowly closed her eyes, letting a tear slide down her cheek.

At first, Gerald thought something had happened to Josephine again, so he quickly called for an ambulance and summoned a doctor to the suite. By the time he reached the suite, he realized that another woman happened to be lying on the couch.

Gerald wasn’t the only one looking surprised. The doctor who followed him there was equally flabbergasted.

That woman didn’t look like the woman whom he treated yesterday.

The shock faded away instantly. After all, saving her life was their top priority right now. They had plenty of time to gossip about what happened after making sure that she was alright.

Sierra’s wrist was still leaking blood at that time. Even though Lewis had already bandaged it with his tie, it wasn’t effective at all. Fresh blood continued to trail down the tie’s outline and drip to the floor.

Truthfully, Sierra was willing to be cruel to herself. She was ready to hurt herself to this degree just to get Lewis to stay with her.

After the doctor administered emergency treatment for Sierra’s injury, he quickly took her to the ambulance. Finally, she was sent to the hospital.

Gerald stood at the hotel entrance while wiping the sweat off his forehead. He had dabbled in the business world for many years and connected with countless clients, but this was his first time encountering such an incident,

The moment he turned around, he noticed Seth leaning against the doorframe with a smile on his face. He was still staring at the ambulance, which slowly disappeared into the horizon.

“Since when are you here, Mr. Fairchild?”

Seth looked away to glance at Gerald. The smile was still curled on his lips as he replied, “I’ve always been here. Perhaps you didn’t notice me, Mr. Harris.”

“I see.” Gerald nodded in response. He was in a hurry just now, not to mention he was

focusing on Sierra the whole time. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

Gerald thought for a moment. Suddenly, he asked, “By the way, Mr. Fairchild, what’s up with

those three?”

Seth just shot a faint smile at him. “Do you really want to know?”

The other man smiled in embarrassment. “I’m just curious, that’s all. You told me that Chairman Alvarez was here to discuss a business deal, yet he brought two women with him. Weirdly enough, something happened to both of them.”

Gerald wondered if Lewis was truly a man who loved playing twisted games. Either that or Gerald had yet to reach the level of success where he could join in on the fun, which was generally preferred by the rich.

Suddenly, Seth straightened up and walked toward the plump man before him. Then, he patted him on the shoulder. “It’s best not to be curious about certain things, Mr. Harris. Also, are you a local?”

Gerald thought for a moment before nodding in response. “Yep, I’ve lived here since I was a

kid.”

He was over 40 years old this year and was at least 12 years older than Seth. The reason why he looked so young was because of his plump appearance.

Seth asked, “I seem to recall this family with the Nelson surname inhabiting Hardington in the past.”

“The Nelson family? That name sounds familiar.”

Gerald thought for some time. He seemed to have recalled something based on how he excitedly slapped his thigh. “I remember that family! The Nelsons used to be the richest family in Hardington!”

He started recounting what he remembered to Seth.

The Nelson family was a legacy in Hardington that existed for 20 years. Those who ran businesses would quake in their boots whenever they heard of the Nelsons being mentioned. However, that had

nothing to do with Gerald back then. That was because he was a restaurant owner at that time.

Gerald seemed to have remembered something else. “There was another family-the Vance family, I believe. These two families used to dominate both the lawful society and the lawless underworld. I heard that their combined assets were equivalent to that of a nation’s.”

Seth continued listening to the tale with a smile on his face. He nodded and gestured for Gerald to move to a seating area so that they could continue the conversation comfortably.

“They monopolized a lot of businesses back then. There was also the Alvarez family who was as powerful as them-”

Gerald had to rack his brain to remember more details of the past while recounting the tale to

Seth.

“Those two families don’t exist anymore, right?”

“Yeah. They were rich, after all, which means they had plenty of enemies. Also, most of their businesses were pretty shady. Back then, the government-” Gerald coughed awkwardly, swiftly changing the subject to a safer territory.

“Anyway, Vance Manor was tragically consumed by a mysterious fire, which remains an unsolved cold case to this day. Once the Vance family got eradicated, the Nelson family vanished from the face of the earth as well. No one has any idea where the members are right now. The Alvarez family is the only family left. Currently, the Alvarez family is the biggest dominating family out there. How is it possible for that family to be unaffected by the tragedy?

The things Gerald mentioned were public knowledge.

He then looked at Seth, soon noticing the thoughtful look on his face. “By the way, Mr. Fairchild, there’s this contact of mine who might know the whereabouts of the Nelson family.”

“Oh?” Seth raised an eyebrow.

“This is just my speculation. I don’t know the details, but apparently, that guy was part of the Nelson family. I don’t know if that’s the truth, though. Do you want me to contact him for you?

“It’s fine. I think I know who you’re talking about.” Seth waved a hand nonchalantly.

Surprise appeared on Gerald’s face at that moment. “You know that guy, Mr. Fairchild?”

Seth just chuckled without saying anything.

“Well then, I’ll go home first if there’s nothing else for me to deal with.”

Seth continued to smile and nod. “You may leave.”

As he watched Gerald leave the hotel, his smile faded.

A moment later, he rose to his feet. He then proceeded to get into his car and left the hotel.

Meanwhile, the suite wasn’t suited for Lewis and Josephine anymore, seeing as Sierra had attempted to commit suicide there. Hence, the hotel manager quickly moved them to another

suite.

All their luggage had already been taken out of the room. Lewis paused in front of the

bedroom door, removing the chair wedged against the doorknob. With that obstacle removed, he proceeded to open the door.

Josephine was crouched in a small ball with her back turned to the doorway.

The moment she heard the doorknob being twisted, she turned around to look in that

direction.

Her eyes were still red and puffy, and teardrops were hanging from her long eyelashes. An endless pool of grief could be seen shimmering in her eyes.

Lewis walked toward her before extending his hand. “Get up. We’re changing suites.”

Josephine stared at the long and slender fingers. Then, she glanced at his emotionless face with her lips still pursed. She didn’t bother to move at all.

“Josephine,” Lewis called out to her in a warning tone.

The young woman felt uneasy when she heard how unfriendly his tone was. She often feared the times when Lewis used her full name instead of her nickname.

Josephine slowly reached out and grabbed his hand. Then, she felt him pulling her to her feet.

Lewis didn’t say anything after that. Instead, he dragged her out of the room.

Once she entered the living room, Josephine could smell blood. It was so thick that it made her. feel nauseous, causing her to gag uncontrollably.

Lewis paused in his tracks and turned around to look at her.

Poor Josephine covered her mouth and gagged for some time. She had to swallow her saliva continuously to suppress the urge to vomit.

The moment she raised her head, she was met with the man’s inquisitive glance. Josephine bit her bottom lip guiltily. Even though she still looked aggrieved, there was a hint of confusion

in her eyes.

Lewis’

gaze trailed from her face down to her stomach.

Josephine felt very nervous because of his gaze. She quickly covered her stomach. subconsciously.

It was rumbling just now because she was hungry.

However, the young woman didn’t want Lewis to know about it due to her anger toward him. If he were to find out that she got hungry, she would be very embarrassed.

Lewis stared at Josephine for a while before looking away.

He dragged her out of the suite wordlessly. They took the elevator down to the lobby and

headed immediately toward the parking lot. Their next destination was the hospital.
