What Separates Me and You

Chapter 234

Chapter 234 Kiss Her All Over

Nancy was implying that she would find trouble with Lewis at Styx Mansion if he kept being stubborn. Lewis' gaze gradually darkened as he met Nancy's warning eyes, and the atmosphere became tense. Understanding the situation, Selena kindly offered, "It's already late today. How about I come another day?" However, Nancy didn't allow it. She pretended to be angry and glared at Selena, saying, "What do you mean another day'? We're going to have our meal. I specifically invited you for this meal. If others know you leave just like that, how would they perceive me?"

Selena looked at Lewis with a troubled expression, but he remained silent.

Nancy said, "Listen to me. We'll have the meal here. Lewis will also eat here."

She didn't bother asking for Lewis' opinion and directly made the decision for him.

Selena glanced at Lewis.

Although Lewis didn't say anything, his expressionless face indicated that this meal wouldn't be pleasant.

As she expected, Lewis didn't even look at her during the meal. Apart from Nancy occasionally exchanging conversations with her, Lewis and Robert treated her as if she didn't exist. Selena felt miserable throughout the meal.

Lewis took a few bites and casually set his cutleries down. He then stood up and said, "I've finished my meal. I'll make a move first.

"Lewis, are you just going to leave like this?" Nancy hurriedly called out to him.

Lewis didn't even turn his head. He took the coat from the maid's hand, and his voice rang out at the doorway, Enjoy your meal.

Nancy stared at him intently, her face turning pale. She glanced angrily at Robert.

Robert pretended not to notice and continued eating, acting as if he were completely unaffected.

After retiring, Robert filled his days with writing or birdwatching, enjoying a leisurely and relaxed lifestyle. He no longer attended to any household matters. It was as if he didn't exist. In the past, he would still nag at Lewis, but they would ignore each other like strangers whenever they met now.

Lewis returned home, and his gaze fell upon the familiar spot-the sofa.

Josephine was hugging a pillow and watching TV.

Upon seeing Lewis, Mrs. Larson immediately approached him and said, "Mr. Alvarez, you're back."

Lewis nodded and glanced toward the sofa. Josephine was engrossed in watching TV and seemed unaware of his return.

Mrs. Larson was a keen observer and quickly said, "Mr. Alvarez, Mrs. Alvarez has been waiting for you to return for dinner. The meal is ready. When do you want to have your meal?"

"Got it. You may leave," Lewis handed the coat to Mrs. Larson.

Mrs. Larson took the coat and nodded, tactfully stepping back.

Josephine was still absorbed in her TV show when the seat beside her suddenly sank. She snapped out of her trance and turned her head to look.

Lewis reached out and rubbed her head. "Haven't eaten?"

Josephine shook her head and signed. "I was waiting for you."

"Next time..." Lewis had just uttered two words when he thought of something else. 'Forget it. Let's go."

He took her hand and led her to the dining room.

Mrs. White had prepared tonight's dinner. Conrad had carefully selected the two maids. Both of them were skilled in cooking. Not only could they prepare various dishes, but they could also understand Josephine's sign language.

Josephine sat in the dining room, and Lewis sat beside her instead of across from her. He picked up his cutleries and continuously put food on Josephine's plate.

Stunned, Josephine instinctively glanced at him. He seemed somewhat different, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"Why are you looking at me? Eat your food."

Josephine pursed her lips, turned her head, and picked up her cutleries before silently eating her food.

After dinner, Lewis took her to the bathroom to freshen up. Josephine's face grew slightly red, but she obediently sat on the stool.

The doctor had advised her not to let her legs come into contact with water, but it had been a long time since she had washed her hair or taken a bath, and she felt incredibly uncomfortable all over.

After washing her hair, she used a towel to wipe her body and avoided touching the wounds on her lower legs.

Lewis used a towel to dry her back while Josephine hugged herself. Her face was flushed as red as a tomato. After wiping her back, Lewis walked to her front and took a stool to sit down.

He held her hand and meticulously wiped her arms. When he looked up, he saw her crimson face. Even her ears were flushing red.

Josephine slightly turned her head away and fixed her gaze on a corner of the bathroom, her body tense. Although she and Lewis were married, she still blushed when they did certain things.

Lewis used to help her bathe often, and he seemed to enjoy doing such things, but every time they washed up, the situation would take an unexpected tum.

Lewis freed one hand and tumed her face towards him, making her look at him.

Josephine's eyelashes trembled, and as soon as their gazes met, her eyes immediately began to evade his.

Lewis placed the towel in her hand and whispered, "You can do it yourself."

Slightly stunned, Josephine raised her head to glance at him.

However, he had no intention of leaving.

Unsure of what to do with the towel in her hand, Josephine started to feel conflicted again.

"Should I help you with it?"

Josephine quickly shook her head. She bit her lip as she used the towel to wipe her arms and neck. The bright overhead lights illuminated the room, making Josephine look disheveled. She wished she could find a hole to

hicle in.

In contrast, Lewis was impeccably dressed. His black shirt was particularly eye-catching under the lights.

As a result, an invisible imbalance was created between them, and Josephine couldn't bring herself to raise her head in his presence.

She could only obey his commands like a slave.

Lewis fixed his gaze on her as he followed her arm movements. He pressed his thin lips into a fine line, and his eyes grew darker. Then, he took the towel from Josephine's hand. "It's cold."

With that, he gave her a new, warm towel, but when Josephine wanted to take it, he withdrew his hand. He raised his hand to stroke the back of her head. Leaning closer to her, he whispered, "You're too slow. Let me help you. Otherwise, you might catch a cold." As he said that, his lips were already in front of hers.

Josephine stared at Lewis face. It was so close to hers that her gaze began flickering. Her fingers gradually clenched.

The bathroom was misty, and the fog increasingly blurred the two figures.

Half an hour later, the man wrapped her in a bath towel and carried her out of the bathroom.

Josephine buried her face in his embrace. Lowering his head, Lewis could immediately see her flushed earlobes.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

After placing her on the bed and tucking her in, Lewis went to the bathroom himself.

Josephine poked her head out from under the covers and looked towards the bathroom. She was still struggling with how to reject Lewis nicely.

Surprisingly, he didn't do anything other than kiss her all over.

'Perhaps he wanted to take a shower first?" she pondered.

Josephine wondered drowsily as running water rang out from the bathroom. Eventually, she couldn't keep her

eyes open and closed them.

She didn't know how long Lewis had spent in the shower, but he woke her up when he came out.

Feeling him pulling her into his arms, Josephine woke up.

She opened her sleepy eyes and looked up at the man before her. Taking in his familiar scent, she closed her eyes again.

Her cheek was against his chest, and his skin was warm. The thick duvet, coupled with the heater in the room, made Josephine feel overheated.

Josephine opened her eyes again, but everything was pitch black. She thought to herself, "Had he tumed off the lights?"

She raised her hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead. She wanted to turn over, but as soon as she did, Lewis' hand on her waist pulled her back.

His breath tickled her ear as he called her in his hoarse voice, "Josie."

Jospehine's body stiffened.

He turned her around and pecked her lips in the darkness.

'Don't be nervous. I won't do anything to you."

Before she could breathe a sigh of relief, Lewis held her hand and said, "Help me."
