Chapter 11

Chapter 11

“The triplets won’t be at the wedding. I will bring them to your place. I’m not sure If I will attend or not.” This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Because of him? You’re scared you’re not over him already?”

“No, not because of him. I doubt he would even care to talk to me. We departed on really bad terms. All I have to do is avoid him for the night. But again, I know Ollie, He doesn’t give two fucks about people so I won’t be surprised if we would be ignoring each other at the party.”

“You sound like you know him very well.”

“He was my stepbrother. My Mom’s marriage to his father was the longest marriage my mom had been in so I lived with him enough to know him well.”

“I know babe, What I mean to say is that it’s been seven years so he might have changed.”

“Everyone in this world can change but not Oliver. I was still in Australia two years ago, remember?”

“But you didn’t approach him. You got your facts based on what you read in papers and what people said. You’re learned enough to know that the media do what it takes to publish what will make them sell.”

“My heart aches right now knowing you’re supporting him.”

“You know I will always have your back, Kathie but that wouldn’t stop me from speaking my truth.”

“Yeah, maybe I have been hiding something from you.”

“What is it? Spill!”

“I was actually close to meeting him one on one during my trip to Australia.”

“I knew something must have triggered you. My bestie doesn’t act on impulse.”

“I honestly hate him so much but being there made me rethink my decision. I had no idea if I would tell him about the triplets but I had the urge to see him.”

“How close did you get to him?”

“Saw him fucking some lady on the desk in his office. They didn’t bother to shut the door completely so I saw them. It brought back devastating memories of our last time together so I left.”

“Did you feel jealous?”

“Hell no!” Katherine replied immediately, clinging tighter to the steering wheel.

“You sure?”

Kathie rolled her eyes before replying to her best friend. “I see no reason why I should be jealous. What happened between me and him was years ago and obviously, he won’t be celibate after that.”

“I wasn’t jealous but I remember being pissed because I expected so much more from a father of three.”

“He has no fucking idea that he’s a father to any child, more less three children. Two cute boys and an adorable daughter.”

Kathie sighed, “I know but he was 34 then so I guess I was expecting some sort of maturity. I felt he should have cut off some silly acts”

“Even if I had told him, I’m sure as hell he would have denied paternity.”

“Then why do we have DNA?”

“You don’t understand, Michie. His Father used to be rich when he was still with my mom but after getting to Australia, I realized Ollie was the richest bachelor in the country so it was easier for him to accuse me of coming for wealth. And I wouldn’t let someone like him accuse me of such.”

“Babe, you need to stop coming to conclusions yourself. Situations change people too. He may not plan on having kids but if he becomes aware that he has one, reality might kick in on him. I still feel you should inform him. He has a right to know even though he denies my god babies.”

“Tell me the truth, do any of the triplets look like him?”

“Behavior-wise, It’s Sammy. Sophie too has a bit of his stubbornness. Anyone that gets a recent glance at Oliver will be able to tell that he’s the father to the triplets.”

“The triplets need not attend the wedding. I will take care of them but you should attend and do all it takes to talk to Oliver. I want you to do it for your kids so they won’t see you as the enemy in the future. They’ve lived seven years without their father and trust me this is the best time to make up for everything.”

Katherine sighed.

“I’ll think about it.”

“Alright baby. Just don’t think too much about anything. Everything will be fine.”

“I know. I just feel so pressured. That everything is happening at the same time. Oliver, the proposal, mama’s wedding.”

“I know, my love. I just want you to know that everything will be fine and I’ll always be there for you and my god babies.”

“Thank you, honey.”

“I need to get back to work. How about we talk later?”

“Sure! Have fun and my sincere regards to Derik.”

“Heyyyy.” Michie was about to challenge her best friend when Katherine chuckled, ending the call.

............................

“Thank goodness you’re here. I was waiting for you before I headed out.”

Katherine rolled her eyes at her mother as She entered the living room.

“Well, Good morning to you too.”

“What do you want, Mother?” Katherine said, clearly not in the mood for any argument.

“Your fiance sent that for you.” She pointed at the table on the other side of the living room.

Looking in that direction, Katherine saw a bouquet of red roses and beside it was a gift bag. She smiled, making her way there.

There was a note in the middle of the roses so she took it out and read it.

You made yesterday one of the best days of my life. Thank you for making me the happiest man on earth. I hope you love the gift I got you.

Putting the note back in the middle of the roses, Katherine reached for the gift bag. She took out the box in it, opened it and came face to face with a gold necklace. Katherine’s smile got bigger at the sight of it. She had no idea when she started running her finger through the piece of jewelry, caressing it.”

“Lover boy is being too sweet. Isn’t he?” Kathie heard a familiar voice say beside her.

She closed the jewelry box, putting it back in the gift bag.

“You sure you wanna get married to him?”

“I don’t remember Lewis doing anything wrong to you. Why are you so against him?”

Beatrice chuckled. “Come on, darling, I’m not against him. You’re my daughter, I have to make sure you’re getting married to the right person.”

“Oh, Please, you’ve never given a fuck about me so don’t start acting like it.”

“Stop being mean, Katherine. I fucking care about you. You are just too stubborn to see it.”

“You’re not ready for this conversation, Mom.”

“I see. There’s no need to argue with you when you will never believe me.”

“I have to go.”

“Wait.” Beatrice stopped her.

She sighed. “What again?”

“Hmmm, Darling, about yesterday.” Katherine stared at her mother as she stammered. “Look, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to act a little weird.”

‘Mom, you didn’t act weird. You acted like a real bitch.”

“There you go with your sharp tongue, ruining the moment.”

“Are you going to continue with your apology or I’m free to excuse myself?”

“I’m sorry for overreacting and talking to you the way I did. I know you had sleepless nights getting me those outfits and I’m sorry that I won’t be using them.”

“It’s just that I want everything to be as perfect as it can be. I saw prettier dresses and I couldn’t get my eyes off them so I made Andre pay for them.”

“Even though I still do not understand why you’re angry about me inviting Charles, I’m sorry I did that behind your back. I would be happy to see him or Oliver again so I thought you would feel the same.”

“When will he be coming around?” Katherine couldn’t help but ask.
