Chapter 798
Chapter 798:
“No hurry,” Eric said, voice calm as he carried her downstairs. “I’ll drop you at the hospital first. Hang tight—I’ll grab the car.”
He turned to the housekeeper. “Fetch Miss Pearson’s coat!”noveldrama
“Right away, Mr. Flynn!”
The moment Eric loosened his grip, Hadley darted upstairs like a deer.
“Hold it right there!” Eric dashed after her, confusion sharpening his voice. “Why are you running?”
Caught off guard, Hadley’s foot twisted beneath her. As she teetered on the edge of a fall, Eric lunged forward and scooped her into his arms.
“Watch yourself!”
Hadley’s eyes flew wide, her pulse hammering, thoughts scattering like leaves in the wind. Her knees buckled, and she crumpled.
“Hadley!” Eric cried, arms snapping shut around her to break her fall. “Get to the door and summon my bodyguards—now!”
“Yes, Mr. Flynn!”
Soon they reached the hospital. Eric rushed beside her as they entered the emergency area.
“Doctor, what is wrong with my wife? She passed out—is it the pain? Did she go into shock?”
“Mr. Flynn,” the doctor replied, voice gentle but firm, “your wife’s fainting has nothing to do with her arm. She collapsed because she is pregnant.”

“Is she truly with child?” Eric stopped dead, his voice trembling. “Are you absolutely certain? There’s no chance of a mix-up?” After all, he and Hadley had always been meticulous with their precautions, and they’d weathered a scare before that turned out to be a false alarm.
“Indeed, I’m certain,” the doctor replied calmly. “Both the urine and blood tests confirm it—no error. She’s in the earliest stages, not yet a fortnight along. In six to eight weeks, an ultrasound will reveal the first tender signs of life.”
The doctor stole a glance at Eric’s face, looking for a hint of his reaction. Eric’s expression was unreadable—joy or dismay?
A storm of emotions churned behind Eric’s furrowed brow. Yet he quickly accepted the truth: no method of protection was ever completely foolproof. Hadley’s recent dizzy spells, her sudden lack of appetite, and the constant weariness that clung to her now made perfect sense. The verdict was clear—Hadley was expecting.
This should have been a moment of pure delight, but Eric found himself teetering on the brink of uncertainty. When it came to children, he believed the decision was entirely Hadley’s—she would be the one to carry this little life. As for him, he was content either way. The Flynn family line was already secure in Ernest and young Locke, yet if fate chose to bless them with another child, Eric would embrace that child with all his heart.
But what of Hadley? What thoughts shone behind her closed eyes? Would she welcome this little one as he did? Eric’s gaze drifted to the drawn curtains, behind which Hadley lay in repose, and he silently vowed to support whatever choice she made.
“When might my wife stir from her slumber?” Eric asked softly.
“It’s difficult to pinpoint,” the doctor replied, “but it shouldn’t be long.”
Eric nodded, still adrift in thought. “Is it normal for a woman in her condition to faint? This is the second time she’s taken a tumble.”
