Chapter 1231 As If!
Jenny didn’t mind her antics; she was worried about Alec.
Stephanie drank the soup and casually commented, “It looks like your mom is doing her best to treat you well. She’s trying her best to make up for the lost time with you.”
“I don’t need her to make it up to me.” Jenny shook her head and continued, “I don’t need her to feel like she owes me anything.”
“That’s how you think, but she may not think that way,” Stephanie replied casually, savoring the soup and relishing the taste on her tongue.
Jenny rolled her eyes at Stephanie. ’Is it good?”
“It’s delicious!” Stephanie nodded and asked, “Do you want a sip?”
“No, thanks.” Jenny shook her head. As a doctor, she knew better than anyone to follow medical advice.
Stephanie had another serving before putting the thermos back where it had been. “So, what do you want me to help you with?”
Although Jenny hadn’t said anything yet, Stephanie could tell she wanted her to help with something.
Jenny smiled at her. ’Can you help me find a wheelchair and take me to see Alec?”
“I knew it!” Stephanie rolled her eyes at her. She could already guess Jenny’s intention before she even asked.
“Cut the nonsense. Will you help or not?” Jenny wasn’t shy with Stephanie in the slightest; in fact, she was quite bossy. Given their solid friendship, Jenny was sure Stephanie wouldn’t refuse.
Stephanie looked at her for a moment and finally nodded helplessly. “Okay, I’ll go now.”
“That’s more like it. Who else can I rely on if not my best friend?’ Jenny smiled, feeling much better now that she knew she could go and see Alec.
Stephanie didn’t say anything; she just rolled her eyes at Jenny once more. She left the ward and came back with a wheelchair. “Let’s go. I’ll take you to see him.”
She understood Jenny well. If she couldn’t see Alec, she probably wouldn’t be able to rest. Since that was the case, she might as well take her to see him so that she could get some actual rest later.
Stephanie struggled to lift Jenny from the bed and put her in the wheelchair before pushing her toward the ICU.
When they reached there, Jenny saw Vincent standing guard at the door.
“Miss Walter,” Vincent greeted, surprised to see her.
His gaze fell on her wheelchair, and he quickly understood what was going on. “Mr. Faust’s condition is currently stable, and he should be fine. You should get some rest.”
“I know. I just wanted to come and take a look.” Everyone told her to rest well, but knowing that Alec got hurt so severely because he shielded her from the impact, how could she rest?
Stephanie pushed her to the door of the ICU. Because the window on the door was at a standing eye level, Jenny couldn’t see anything while sitting in a wheelchair.
“Steph, can you help me up?” She still wanted to stand up and take a look.
Stephanie was helpless, but she had to help Jenny stand up so that she could see Alec.
Right then, Alec was still wearing an oxygen mask, but from the monitoring machine, Jenny could see that all his vital signs were stable. Breathing a sigh of relief, she sat back in her wheelchair.
“Vincent, can you tell me what happened after the collision? Who brought us to the hospital?” She wasn’t in a mood to ask about all these. But after she saw that Alec was fine, she could direct her energy toward figuring out who could be responsible.
Vincent didn’t hide anything from her and told her the truth. “A passerby brought you and Mr. Faust to the hospital. The driver who caused the accident died on the spot and was suspected of drunk driving, so this collision is temporarily classified as an accident.’
“Drunk driving? As if!” Jenny sneered. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“Don’t worry. I’ve already sent someone to look into this. I’ll make sure to investigate that driver thoroughly.” Vincent held the same opinion; he didn’t think it was an accident. Although Alec hadn’t woken up yet, he’d taken the initiative to arrange for someone to investigate the matter.
