Chapter 2723
"In that case, I'll check it out myself." I thought of a plan after I understood Theo's train of thought.
Theo nodded and agreed. "It'll be more appropriate for you to follow up with this since Sylvester would be less wary of you than me regardless. But with how you treated the Yards before..." "It's okay. If he's really dissatisfied with Silas, then everything will be easy." I already had an idea.
Theo smiled when he heard this. "Good."
Looking at him, Theo seemed to trust his father very much.
I was worried that Theo would be devastated if we found out that the truth was as Silas said.
Theo noticed my sudden laps in concentration and grabbed my hand. "What's wrong? You look off all of a sudden."
I shook my head, not telling Theo what I had been thinking. "It's nothing. if we want to start with the Yards, we'll still need to rely on your power."
"I'll be happy to help with whatever I can."
Theo replied without hesitation and that moved me. "Thank you, Theo."
"We're husband and wife. There's no need for that." He touched my head, his eyes filled with tenderness.
The next day.
I showed up at Yard Group early in the morning.
"Hello, I'm looking for President Yard. Is he in?"
"Hello, do you have an appointment?"
"Nope." I shook my head.
The lady at the front desk looked at me and then said with a smile, "My apologies. I'll need to ask President Yard if you haven't made an appointment."
"Yes, just say Wanda Lane is looking for him." I generously stated my name.
The front desk staff's expression changed slightly when they heard my name and then picked up the phone. "Mr. Yves, there is a Miss Wanda Lane looking for President Yard here..."
I did not listen to what they were saying and instead, took advantage of this time to look around and pay close attention to the voices whispering throughout the company.
"President Yard sent Chairman Yard abroad this morning. He's the one in charge in the future, yes?"
"Exactly! President Yard couldn'tThis content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
wait to replace Mr. Cairn, who had been with Chairman Yard for more than ten years, with his own assistant when he came back from the airport. Everyone can tell what he's thinking."
"Stop talking. You'll get fired if they hear you."
Theo was right. Sylvester was indeed hasty.
Was he not worried that Silas would find out about this and stirrup trouble?
Just as my thoughts went flying, a voice broke my train of thought.
"Miss Lane, President Yard invited you up."
"Okay, thank you."
I took the elevator up to Sylvester's office. It was huge and used to be Silas's. Sylvester only used to have an office at the end of the northern corridor and it had been much smaller than this. I knocked on the door and when I heard Sylvester asking me to go in, I entered.
Sylvester was seated upright in the
center of the president's office. He seemed to have changed the style of the office overnight. I raised a brow. Sylvester seemed more impatient than I thought he was.
As if noticing my expression, Sylvester knocked on the table. "Why did you come to visit all of a sudden, President Lane?"
"Of course, I have some official matters to discuss."
"What business is there between me and you?" Sylvester smiled as if he had heard a joke.
Pulling out the chair opposite him, I sat down and looked at him with my dark eyes. "You choosing to cooperate with Nibel to go up against Grant Corporation back then shows enough of your ambition. You want Yard Group to regain its lofty position from back then but unfortunately, you are limited in your ability. That's why you had to work with someone. Once the plan was successful, you would've then found a way to deal with Nibel, isn't that right?"
