Once we got into the woods, I rubbed my body with dirt, ruffled my hair, and let Adam tie my hands with his belt.

Then I collapsed to the floor and let him take pictures of me with my phone. After that, he sent it to them and shortly after. my phone rang and after we exchanged nervous glances, Adam picked.

“Yes…”

“As you can see, I have her and she’s still alive…”

Adam scoffed. “I am not faking anything. This is Adam Blackwell, son of Robert Blackwell, who created this fucking bounty. So tell him, I am ready to come back home and I have what he wants the most!”

Adam looked at me for assurance, and I gave him a thumbs up.

That was brilliant.

He paced around, mouthing to me that he was on hold, then he focused again.

“Yes?…”

“Okay, got it. I’ll call when I’m there.” The call ended and Adam faced me. “We have to get out of here. They gave me an address as a pickup point. What do we do?”

I thought about it. Walking to the border was out of the question.

Dominic would know I was trying to leave the city, so Adam and I needed to come up with creative ways to leave the North without drawing suspicion.

This led to us stalking some delivery trucks that had come in to do their business.

Security would only check trucks that came in but wouldn’t bother about trucks that went out. It was a risk, but it was the only viable idea we had that could get us out of here in time before people knew we were gone.

As soon as we sighted a large sixteen wheel truck that had come to deliver gas, we immediately went to it and rolled under.

Then we latched onto the iron underneath and waited.

Soon the truck began to move, and that’s when I prayed and hoped for us to get out without being stopped. My wolf began to get uneasy again, the same way she did before the waiter was caught. It made me anxious and worried that I would be caught, but I held on for dear life.

Soon the truck got to the border, but instead of it being waved forward, it was stopped.

Adam and I exchanged glances.

“What’s up, Chief?” I heard the driver ask.

“Just a normal security routine. We have to check your vehicle, sir.” A man replied, and I held on to the iron, hoping they won’t check under the truck.

I watched as the driver came down, his keys jangling as he led the guards to the back of his truck. After he opened it for them, I heard the sounds of their boots climbing in and walking around. To my horror, someone brought a dog to sniff under the vehicle and my heart hammered as I panicked about what to do next.

As soon as the german shepherd reached my hideout, my wolf came to the surface and I let out a growl low enough for the dog to hear.

Instantly it whimpered and turned away, dragging along its owner and when the men in the truck came down and gave the go–ahead for the truck to go, I heaved a sigh of relief.

In a matter of minutes, we were successfully out of the kingdom, moving at moderate speed. I glanced at Adam and he me a proud nod.

The truck’s first stop was at a gas station and as soon as the driver came down, we came down as well and rolled out from beneath the truck. Just then, we sighted someone fill his tank before going into the store and with one glance at each other, we knew what to do.

gas station was empty as everyone was in the store, still Adam looked around as he approached the car and with one move, he used his arm to shatter the car window,

As soon as he got in, he opened the passenger door and I quickly got in. Just then, the owner sighted us and rushed out of the store.

“Hey! That’s my car!” He yelled as he and some others rushed towards us with baseball bats. My body trembled as I anticipated being caught!

“Adam, they’re coming!” My voice trembled and when I turned to him, I found him hot–wiring the car.

A few feet more and the car wheezed to life and just as their hands reached the body of the vehicle, Adam zoomed off.

I could barely catch my breath as I ran my hand through my hair, feeling the breeze from Adam’s side cool my hot body. I rolled down the window on my side as well and closed my eyes as the wind blew on to my face.

Ever since I collaborated with Adam, my wolf had been haywire and unsettled, and I knew it was because she didn’t like this mission. But what she doesn’t understand is that I needed to do this instead of waiting for more people to die while I am stored away like a princess in a castle.

I can’t carry anymore deaths on my conscience.

So I’d rather risk my life than let innocents die again. noveldrama

We drove in silence for a couple of hours and then we ditched the car on the side of the road before crossing over into the woods, which Adam said would lead to the pickup point.

After about an hour of walking with my thoughts, something stood out to me, so I decided to talk to Adam about it.

“I’m kinda curious, though.” I said as we trudged our way up through the woods.

“Yeah?”

“You didn’t say a word when I mentioned killing the rest of the families. I mean, that includes yours and aren’t you bothered?”

Adam replied with a shrug. “They are not my parents anymore. Not after what they did to you and other people, you know?”

I didn’t answer. Just because Adam disowned his parents didn’t make the situation any less shitty. I have no idea what to do about Sadie’s parents when I find them, but I know I won’t have peace until I do something and get justice. How? I am still at a loss.

Will things still be the same between me and Adam, even after he knows I killed his parents?

Will Sadie ever forgive me for what I could do to her parents and her mate?
