The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 657

Noelle offered no response to what he said, as she thought Hendrix was still lying to her.

Seemingly aware of what she was thinking, Hendrix quickly added, "Jean went to see you before, right?"

Noelle hadn't expected him to bring up Jean. Her previously sharp gaze softened as she asked, "What do you mean?"

"You've probably already guessed it. I was the one who helped Jean fake the foreign investor she told Dylan about."

At his words, Noelle finally remembered the matter.

Truthfully, she hadn't had the mental space to care about anything else recently. Even the name Dylan felt like something from a distant past when mentioned now.

Hendrix couldn't help but frown at her expression and reaction. He then pinched her cheek lightly and said in a voice tinged with dissatisfaction, "I'm not done talking yet."

Not wanting to hurt her, he didn't use much force when he pinched her. But Noelle still found it annoying, so she swatted his hand away with a loud smack.

Hendrix, however, only smiled wider at her reaction.

Noelle found him strange but didn't want to delve into it, so she urged him to continue.

"It wasn't until a couple of days ago that I realized Jean had played me. In other words, that investor actually exists," Hendrix explained.

"When her father was involved in those dealings, he had already prepared an escape route. He just never expected that his future son-in-law would report him in the end.

"The authorities moved too quickly,

so he didn't have time to flee. But he left a way out for Jean. Back then, she was still in prison. And by the time she got out, she didn't even have a way to contact the investor. So she came to me.

onet

"On the surface, she claimed she wanted to team up with me to screw over Dylan one last time. But in reality, she was waiting for me to facilitate a connection with the investor. I was careless back then, which was why I believed her and ended up helping her fine the investor."

Realization finally dawned on Noelle. "So, what Jean told Dylan was actually true?"

"Yeah. Dylan pinned everything he did to Mr. Fisher on me. And since Jean really loved Dylan before, he only had to sweet-talk her a little for her to believe him. But that's not all I wanted to tell you."

Noelle had been about to ask him about Brian's case. After all, whether it was Hendrix or Dylan who was responsible, she suddenly felt the need for a real answer. But Hendrix changed the subject before she could speak.

She stared at him in confusion. "What else is there?"

"Jean's dead," Hendrix replied.

Noelle had become particularly sensitive to the topic of death after what happened with Seline. Her hand, which had been about to push him away, instead tightened around his.noveldrama

She looked him straight in the eyes and asked, "What did you just say?"

"She died abroad. They say she contracted a severe infectious disease and passed away after a few days in the hospital," Hendrix said, his warm, dry hand firmly holding hers. "And the two of them-Dylan and Jean-got married abroad.

"She had no parents left and no children, so all the inheritance her father left

behind went to Dylan."
