Chapter 588
"What brings you here, Ms. Fisher?" Hendrix asked, cutting through the small talk.
Jean knew she wasn't in a position to exchange pleasantries with him. Thus, she didn't beat around the bush. "Mr. Freeman, as you know, all of my family's assets have been confiscated, and my parents are no longer in this world.
"So, it makes no difference whether I'm in or out of prison. I have no one in this city and no place to turn to. I can't even support myself. But I heard you've been dealing with something troublesome lately-so I came to ask. If I can help you solve it, would you be willing to pay me?"
Hendrix slowly narrowed his eyes and chuckled softly. "Continue."
"I know why you've been putting so much pressure on Dylan. It's all because of Noelle, isn't it? But what you probably don't realize is that Dylan doesn't care as much about power and status as you think.
"Yet, ironically, that's the only leverage you have over him right now. But honestly, breaking him and Noelle apart doesn't have to be this complicated."
Hendrix fell silent.
"If you give me a chance, I promise I can destroy their relationship. Once that happens, Noelle will naturally return to you. What do you think?"
Jean laid out her intention simply. It was as if she were presenting a simple either- or choice.
Hendrix couldn't help but laugh. "What do you mean? What are you planning to do?"
"What I do is none of your concern. You just need to tell me if you'll agree to my terms. I'm not asking for much—just 50 million dollars. I know how much you're worth. To you, that amount is just a drop in the ocean, but it could get you the woman you love. So, isn't this a deal we're making?"
Hendrix didn't respond.
Jean, as if reading his mind, quickly added, "Don't worry. This deal will stay between you and me. Of course, if it doesn't work out, it'll be as if I never came here today and our conversation never happened. noveldrama
"As a businessman, you should understand just how much sincerity I'm showing
with this offer, right? So, do we have a deal or not?"
...
"Dylan."
Dylan immediately stiffened when he heard the hoarse voice calling out from behind him. Then, he snapped his head around as if he'd seen a ghost.
When he saw the person standing in front of him, the fear in his eyes only intensified.
Seeing his reaction, Jean couldn't help but laugh. "What's with that expression? Shouldn't you be happy to see an old friend?"
The two of them were standing at the entranceof Dyno Tower. Given the recent turmoil surrounding the company, there were likely reporters lurking nearby at any given moment. Dylan naturally didn't want anyone to see Jean, let alone see them standing together. So, he quickly pulled her inside.
Jean didn't resist. Instead, she flashed a smile at him. She even felt a twisted sense of satisfaction, as this was probably the first time Dylan had ever taken the initiative to hold her hand.
In the past, he had been the one
needing something from her, yet even then, he had rarely softened his attitude. More often than not, she
had been the one trying to read him, piecing together his thoughts and emotions on her own.
What do you think?
