Chapter 27
Before Maxwell went abroad, he hadn't interacted much with Hendrix. Therefore, he didn't know Hendrix well at all. However, he could tell that Hendrix's look was a warning
Maxwell just laughed.
Hendrix ignored him. After the glance, he left, pulling Noelle along with him.noveldrama
He slammed the car door shut loudly.
Noelle could sense his anger. She didn't want to get into trouble, so she scooted away from him, still holding her sketchbook tightly.
However, Hendrix reached out and snatched it out of her hold.
Noelle's eyes widened in shock. "Give it back!" she said immediately.
This was the most animated Hendrix had ever seen her in their two years of marriage. Noelle pounced on
him like an angry cat, trying to snatch the book away from him.
Hendrix had only intended to take a look, but Noelle's attitude made him frown. He grabbed both of her hands, trapping them so that she did not get a chance to snatch the sketchbook back,
"Let me go! That is mine!" Noelle cried, even more agitated
Hendrix did not look at her. He lifted up the sketches to look at them.
Levi had already started driving at this point. The lighting was dim in the car. Just as Hendrix was about to
turn on the lights, Noelle suddenly leaned over and kissed him on the mouth.
This made Hendrix pause. In his memory, this was the first time that Noelle had initiated a kiss.
Because of her childhood, she'd always been dull and boring. She never initiated intimacy.
This was why Hendrix was surprised when Noelle kissed high suddenly.
While he was in a daze, Noelle successfully grabbed the sketchbook. Then, she shoved it behind her, hiding it from him.
Hendrix realized what she was trying to do. He looked at her darkly. "Give it back."
"It's mine," Noelle replied.
Hendrix did not have the patience to argue with her. Just as he was about to take the sketchbook forcefully, his phone rang.
Noelle knew she wouldn't be able to resist him. She was already thinking about throwing the entire book out of the window when Hendrix's call saved her.
She couldn't hear what was being said on the other end, but she saw Hendrix's expression fall.
"I'll head over at once," he said before hanging up.
Then, he looked over at Levi. "Stop the car."
The car stopped.
Without any explanation to Noelle, Hendrix opened the door and got out of the car. Chapter 27
Noelle only snapped back to her senses when the car started driving off again. She turned to look out the window, but Hendrix had already disappeared by then.
She lowered her eyes slowly.
Hendrix did not return home that night.
At dawn, Noelle ventured out of her room and turned off the light at the stairs. Then, she returned to bed. An idea struck her, and she pulled up Sandra's social media page.
As expected, Sandra had published a new post-a photograph of her at the hospital with several praying emojis as the caption.
In the comment section, a few of their mutual friends asked if she was okay.
Sandra replied, "It wasn't me. Mrs. Freeman Senior is hospitalized."
Ophelia?
It took Noelle a few moments to realize that it was Ophelial
