Chapter 51

Chapter 51

"He... wants you to bring your wife along,” Jeremy replied

Clark furrowed his brows at that.

After dinner with Lilly, Judy returned to the Reid manor. It was already late by the time she arrived. and everyone had already gone to bed. Judy let out a sigh of relief at that. Quietly, she returned to her room to change her clothes.

As she put away her clothes, Judy caught sight of the small, black box that her mother left her. As she recalled Lilly's words, Judy's instincts tald her that there was a secret hiding inside this box.

Just as she was turning the box this way and that to study it, Judy heard a door open nearby. Clark's study was next to her room. Was he at home? Startled, Judt hastily shoved the box back into her closet.

After a while, Clark's study went quiet. But Judy was still uneasy. After hesitating, she opened the door, only to see that the kitchen lights were on. She could see someone's figure cast a shadow on the wall.

This wasn't Judy's first time seeing Clark make tea in the middle of the night. They had house staff to attend to their needs, but Clark rarely called them.

"Is spying also something that Matthew asked you to do?" a frosty voice asked from the kitchen.

A shiver went through Judy as she was pulled back to the present. As she stood there with a hand on the rails, she wondered if she should go downstairs or head back to her room

"Bring the tea up to my study once you've finished making it.” Having said that, Clark placed an opened container of tea leaves on the table before heading upstairs.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

Judy stood there for a bit before going to the kitchen to do as she was told.

Clark often had a cup of tea when he was working in his study at night. This was the first thing that Judy learned about him after she married him. The lovely, delicate scent of tea spread through the study when Judy entered.

"I heard that your grandmother has had surgery?" Judy was about to leave after she had brought the tea, but Clark's voice stopped her in her tracks. She looked up, shaking her head with an uneasy look in her eyes.

"Have you thought about the task I asked you about?"

Judy clenched her fists, a lost look on her face.

"Matthew said that he'll be hosting a birthday party at the end of this month. Here's the invitation."

Clark pushed a gray envelope across his desk over to Judy. His fingers remained on top of the envelope even after that.

“It'll be held in the Scarlet Garden, toward the west of the Blake mansion. If I recall correctly, Matthew's safe should be there.”

Judy's hands shook as she picked up the invitation. How did Clark know this much about the Blake family matters?

"How do you know this?”

Clark glanéed at her but didn't N answer, her question. "All you'll neéd to do is. avoid the guests and snéak into Matthew’ s study to gett to the safe. " .

Judy felt uneasy. "But even if I find the safe, I can't open it. I don't have the password."

"You don't have to worry about that."

Judy didn’ Eunderstand Clark's words. Why didn't she have to warty about the safe’s password? There was ne Y point if she couldn't open the safesBut for Lilly's sake, all gdidy catld do was nod. Content-belongs to“ “

"Take this." Clark said as he handed her a card. "There's no password.”

Judy froze before staring at Clark, surprised. Was he helping her?

Without waiting for Judy to take it, . Clark tossed the card onto the desk It landed with a soft "thud", butit was ‘still loud enough to unnerve her.

"The next time Matthew threatens you, I want to be the first to know." Judy bit her lip. The gratitude that she had felt just a moment ago was now doused.

So, it all boiled down to this.
