The Rejected Luna: Daddy, Where is Mommy?

33

“Who… who told you that?” Calvin asked. He didn’t miss that Roselet used ‘HAD’ while talking about it.

“Mommy,” Roselet replied. “She told me about him. Lemi and I found her in the graveyard today, and she was crying bitterly thinking about him. But Cavin, I have a question. His birthday is twenty days prior to Christmas, while my birthday is eleven days prior to Christmas. Are twins born after nine days?” She asked innocently. Calvin didn’t answer her immediately, but as much as he could think, he assumed that he had been celebrating Roselet’s birthday on the wrong date.

Also, how the hell would he know that when she was born exactly when he wasn’t there when she was born? He started celebrating her birthday from the day he found her in a little box. But he just couldn’t drop that bomb on her over the video call; he had to talk about it when she would be near him, in his arms, where he could clear all her doubts and insecurities.

“I will answer this question when you will be in my arms, snuggling close to your daddy, Princess.” Calvin teased her, on which Roselet pouted.

“Dadddyyyy, No!! I don’t like waiting.”

“Then come back to me as soon as possible. Your daddy misses you.”

“I miss you too, Calvin. By the way, I, too, have to tell you about the incident of how I met my mommy when we will meet.” Roselet said, thinking about the roof incident.

“I will be waiting for that. Now, resume what else you did today or what had happened around you.” Calvin asked curiously. Roselet told him that how Christian Smith knew about her and asked her to hug him, to which she denied. Calvin didn’t comment on that part because he had never taught his daughter to behave like this, but even her anger for her grandpa wasn’t wrong.

After talking for hours, Roselet started feeling sleepy after listening to the bedtime story. She adjusted her phone with the pillow in such a way that Calvin could still see her face, even when she would be asleep. Calvin kissed the phone screen, watching his pup sleeping peacefully. He watched how Zordan came to check on her and covered her properly with the blanket.

“You can sleep now, Calvin. You didn’t sleep even last night.” Zordan said, looking at the phone.

“Sure. But before that, I have to talk with you. Rose told me that your mate’s family members are planning to organize some functions for you. So, you can stay a day more there.” Calvin said, keeping a stone in his heart. “I don’t want you to come here leaving your mate just because I’m having a hard time living without Rose.”

“We can return back to pack with Rose,” Lemieux spoke between the friendly conversation. Otherwise, it was considered as disrespecting Alpha and Beta by speaking in between them.

“Are you serious, Lemi?” Zordan asked. “There is no way I’m attending any party or function without my people.” He added. “I can’t invite all my family members, relatives, and friends here because this is not my pack but those who are here just can’t leave me.”

“Also, I know my princess wants to spend a day more there,” Calvin added. “When you all went together, make sure to come together as well,” he added.

“Calvin, will you come to this function then? We can then leave together from here the next day?” Zordan asked.

“I don’t want anyone to know that Rose is my daughter in that pack,” Calvin said with a frown. “Most importantly, I don’t want that characterless woman to know about Rose being her daughter. By staying in touch with her, who knows, even my Rose will think of following her footsteps?”

“You do know that no one can hide the truth forever. Now that she is awake, one day or another day, she will come to know about it. On top, her younger sister being my mate, is not helping us at all. The moment Reva will come to our pack, she will come to know that Rose is my Alpha’s daughter.”

“And Alpha, you should at least visit your son’s grave once,” Lemieux suggested. “I guess Rose would have told you about him,” he added, knowing that Roselet didn’t have a habit of hiding anything from her father. Calvin became silent upon hearing this. He couldn’t feel the pain of his son’s loss immediately, maybe because he never knew his existence but now that he was thinking about that part. He could imagine a boy of Roselet’s age playing with her. They would have shared their childhood together like just he did with his twin brother, Colton.

If Roselet could think of visiting her mother after knowing about her, then why couldn’t he? He should visit his son at least once.

“Okay!!” Calvin agreed. “But don’t tell my princess about it. I will surprise her,” he added.

“And Zordy, is your mate going to come with you? If yes, then you can tell me, and I can ask to arrange a welcome party for her as female Beta,” Calvin asked.

“No, buddy. I don’t want to rush even though my wolf wants to mark and mate with her immediately. It will be better if we give each other at least a week to get to know each other better. That’s why, even if she accompanies me, you don’t have to give her the treatment of female Beta.”

“Urgh..” Roselet groaned in her sleep, getting disturbed by all this conversation when she was sleeping.

‘Okay, bye!! Let my princess have her beauty sleep.’ Calvin mind-linked Zordan before disconnecting the video call.

‘I told Zordy that I will come, but I don’t have a very good feeling about tomorrow night.’ He thought but keeping that thought away, he smiled, imagining his love’s reaction, which she would get finding him there.
