Chapter fourteen
Vincenzo
For days now, I’ve been pacing around my room, feeling the anticipation building up inside me. Everyone had heard about the story behind our rival, but it was at that festival when everything unfolded right before my eyes. I couldn’t believe I was there to witness it all.
Their masked scent, the invasion, and the tattering of our pack warriors’ corpses… it was all their doing. But my anger isn’t just about their invasion. It’s also about why my father hasn’t put an end to them. And since the incident, I’ve been searching for Emma’s corpse everywhere, but… I haven’t found any trace of her. It’s frustrating!
Someone mentioned earlier, after days of searching for her, that Emma was the one who leaked the news about the enemies invading our pack during the celebration. If she was the one who walked into the celebration hall that day, it’s possible that she may have been targeted by the enemies or caught in the fire.
I wanted to believe that she was dead to avoid any problems in the near future but something in me kept telling me that she was still alive somewhere and it seems to be driving me insane at times. I liked her but I hated the fact that she was just a mere omega and having a mate of such status is absolutely not my dream.
With determination fueling my every step, I rose from my bed and made my way toward my father’s chamber. The icy glare on my face couldn’t be ignored, a reflection of the anger brewing within me. As I approached his office, the guards humbly bowed in submission upon catching sight of me.
“Good morning, young master Vincenzo,”
I brushed off their greeting and attempted to enter, but one of the guards swiftly blocked my path, positioning himself between me and the door. “They’re in the middle of a conference meeting, young master,” he obediently informed me.
“And what’s your point?” I shot him a fierce look, causing him to tremble in my presence. “The Alpha specifically ordered that nobody should be allowed inside.” He tried to sound so courageous.
And at that moment, hearing that statement caused anger to take hold of me, and I couldn’t help but grab his neck, applying pressure slowly. “Do I look like a nobody to you…. Hmmm?” I growled, causing him to shake his head negatively in response.
I could feel the fear and pain in his tearful gaze as he desperately clutched my hands, begging for his release. “He said nobody, and you dare to stand before me and utter those vile words!” I growled, tightening my grip around his arm. My expression turned deadly, causing the other guards to lower their heads in fear, struggling to maintain their composure.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
“What the fuck are you doing, Vincenzo?” I groaned, quickly releasing my grip after a few minutes as I heard the shocked gasp of a familiar voice. I was already accustomed to that voice since birth.
I let out a sigh of frustration as I reluctantly pushed the guard away, causing him to land on his butt on the ground. He held onto his neck, rubbing it and coughing hard. Rolling my eyes, I turned around to face an angry-looking woman. Disappointment swirled in the depth of her gaze, and I felt no pang of regret.
“Mom,” I called out, not a bit fazed by her presence. The only person who could make me cower in fear was my father, and they all knew it.
Glaring at me, she completely ignored my call and her eyes trailed from me to the guard coughing tiredly beside me. As she saw him, I noticed her expression soften. “I’m sorry, guard Antonio,” she muttered before her gaze returned angrily to me.
I couldn’t help but chuckle mockingly as I looked at her warm gesture towards the injured guard, and that seemed to infuriate her even more. “Why are you here, son?” she asked, her voice filled with a mix of concern and frustration.
“To see Father,” I replied nonchalantly.
“Then why were you outside and almost choking this young guard to death?” she questioned, her voice filled with concern. I turned to see the person she was referring to.
“He obstructed me from entering inside,” I replied, frustration evident in my voice. I couldn’t help but sign as my mom gave me a skeptical look. Will she ever believe me? “They said that Father is having a conference meeting with his rank members,” I mumbled, my annoyance palpable.
My mom’s gaze shifted from me to the guards before speaking, “Oh! The meeting hasn’t ended yet? But why choke him?” She used her head to gesture towards the guard, seeking an explanation.
“Father requested that nobody walk in,” I said, frustration evident in my voice. “And….” My mom responded, sounding confused, “But I am not a nobody?” I snapped back, my glare shifting to the other remaining guards, causing them to lower their heads in unison.
“VINCENZO!” my mom yelled. Feeling her frustration, I let out a frustrated sigh and angrily turned around. I pushed the next guard standing almost beside me away and forcefully pushed the office door open.
“Son!!” I ignored my mother and walked inside, drawing all of their attention.
They all stopped talking and turned their heads toward me, looking confused. My father’s eyebrow furrowed in a mix of confusion and anger.
“Didn’t the guards out there tell you that……
He still hadn’t finished his sentence when suddenly my mother rushed inside. “Vincenzo, you have to leave,” she said, coming to stand beside me.
And that’s when anger started swirling in my father’s face as he glanced at the two of us. “Didn’t the guards tell you two that I was having a meeting and didn’t want any disturbances until we were done?!” he exclaimed, his voice filled with frustration.
Hearing my father’s voice raged thunderously around the room, dominating the silence. My mother held my hand, trying to lead me away, but I was quick to yank her hands off me, surprising everyone in the room.
“You said that nobody should disturb you, but it’s so sad. I wasn’t a nobody, so I think I am qualified to walk inside,” I said, my voice as calm as an early morning breeze, though the sarcasm in my tone remained obvious.
The rank members gasped in shock and started murmuring among themselves. My mother tugged at my clothes, already sensing the murderous look on my father’s face. “We have to go,” she whispered to me, but I ignored her, standing there like a spoiled child.
“Go, son. Once we’re through with the meeting, I’ll come to find you,” my father said, calmly trying to diffuse the tense atmosphere.
“You heard him,” my mother whispered, but I stood my ground. “Sorry, but I’m not going anywhere.”
“WHAT!” came another doubtful gasp from everyone.
“Vincenzo,” Alpha Matteo, my father, called with a hint of warning in his voice.
But I remained unfazed, clearly having no intention to move away. “What I wanted to say is more important than this meeting you are having with these cowards?” I said, glaring at everyone.
“What!” My mother snapped her head at me, their mouths hanging wide open in utter disbelief.
“Don’t you dare, son!” The murderous voice came from my father.
“Then why haven’t you all put an end to that beast and his clan after all these years?!” I shot back, surprising them all. They seemed taken aback by my sudden questions.
