The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 587

Matthew coldly remarked, "Your actions stopped the production of Liverlight Pill. By snatching away the formula, you practically damaged the foundation of traditional medicine. You're just digging your own grave, and you deserve it."

Upon hearing that, Levi found himself drenched in cold sweat, wishing he could undo his actions. Still, Levi didn't want to take the blame.

"It's not my fault for damaging the practices of traditional medicine. Newspapers, magazines, and even some TV shows claim that traditional medicine is just a placebo and a product of ignorance.

"The theory and foundation of traditional medicine is merely superstition with no scientific evidence. How can you expect me to believe in traditional medicine?"

Matthew slammed on the brake and turned around to glare at Levi. "Are you not thinking it through, or are you just clueless? These are the narratives people are pushing. They deliberately slander and undermine traditional medicine.

"The general population might struggle to discern the truth, so they just go along with public opinion. After all, they don't have enough information. But you're the deputy mayor of Lambda City, and you actually buy into the idea that traditional medicine is useless?"

After being insulted as a fool, Levi's face turned red. As the deputy mayor, Levi didn't like being talked down to and shot back, "It's not that I believe it, but the public opinion is pretty strong on this."

Matthew coldly grunted. "Have you tried cryotherapy?"

Levi nodded. "I've tried cryotherapy. It takes care of my shoulder pain. As soon as my shoulder hurts, I'll go for it."

Matthew snapped, "Like you said, you go for cryotherapy for shoulder pain. That means you still believe in traditional medicine. So, why are you undermining traditional medicine?noveldrama

"Let's be real. You're just greedy for money. You will do anything they ask you to for cash. If Mr. Lancaster dies, you'll be the one responsible for it."

Levi's expression turned grim as he stammered, "I-I..." He had a hard time coming up with an excuse to explain his actions.

Matthew had hit the nail on the head. Thankfully, they were alone, or Levi would be utterly humiliated.

The car suddenly went quiet. Out of anger, Matthew breathed loudly and heavily. All of a sudden, a phone started ringing.

Levi recognized it as the ringtone of his phone and jumped at the chance to change the subject. He pulled out his phone and glanced at the screen. Unexpectedly, it was his mom calling, so he tapped on the answer button.

"I'm still in a meeting, Mom. Can you call me back later?"

On the phone, Levi could hear his mom crying. "D-don't be sad, Levi..."

Levi was confused. Why did his mom cry and try to comfort him? He wasn't sad at

all.

He raised his volume and said, "Stop crying, Mom. Just take your time and tell me what's going on. Did my wife make you angry?"

On the line, his mom cried even harder. "M-mitch has left us."

Levi frowned. "Where did Dad go..."

He abruptly trailed off, an uneasy feeling washing over him.

Just like that, his mom spilled the truth over the phone. "Mitch passed away. Playing chess made his blood pressure spike. He died because of a brain hemorrhage."

With a thud, his phone dropped on the floor. Mitch had died, and he really did.

Levi would lose all his connections and even his future.

Matthew caught a hint of what Levi had said, realizing Mitch must have passed away. Noticing Levi was in a daze, he casually commented, "Serves you right."
