The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 479

Matthew was still figuring out the cards in his hands. He held them haphazardly, looking like a child playing Blackjack for the first time. It was plain as day that he was a total rookie.

Caleb couldn't take it anymore and urged. "It's your turn first. Hurry up already."

Matthew furrowed his brows. "Hang tight. I'll be ready soon."

Dwight sneered. "Quit staring. You're doomed to lose. I'm taking all your chips this round. When you lose everything, quickly get out of my face."

Matthew tapped on his cards and remarked, "I've got a pretty solid hand."

Dwight sported a confident look. "Here's the deal. I've got this one in the bag. If I can't win against you

after playing Blackjack for so many years, then I might as well have never played.'

When Dwight drew his cards, he knew he was in a good position to win. He had an Ace and a seven, so it was a perfect starting hand.

After all, he had counted the cards. After drawing his hand, he could tell he was about to win based on his experience. Suddenly, Matthew shouted and revealed his hand.

"Blackjack!"

Dwight raised an eyebrow. "Did you slip up, kid? You're so new to this. How is that possible?"

As Dwight was speaking, he shifted his gaze to Matthew's hand. Upon seeing it, his face went as white as a sheet.

How did Matthew get a default win? He just drew the first two cards as Blackjack. What kind of luck was that?

Sitting across Dwight, Caleb gaped at the cards. "His luck is off the charts!"

Sebastian was so shocked that his jaw dropped, and he didn't even notice that the cigarette between his lips had fallen to the floor.

Jane intently gazed at Matthew and warmly announced, "Stop staring and just pay up, Dwight."

Looking embarrassed, Dwight made excuses for himself diffidently. "He just got lucky. It takes skill to win, not luck."noveldrama

As Dwight spoke, he tossed over his chips and started shuffling the deck.

Sebastian mumbled, "Card games are all about luck. Skill doesn't mean a thing. I'm a perfect example." With a sheepish expression, Dwight remarked, "I doubt his luck will keep holding up."

Soon enough, the next round was about to start.

Dwight had counted the cards when he shuffled the deck. He smirked and said, "This round's mine. Get your chips ready. And you, get ready to leave the table. This time, m going to "

With a haughty attitude, Dwight intentionally taunted Matthew. But before Dwight could finish his sentence, Matthew showed his hand. "Blackjack."

Another Blackjack? Dwight couldn't believe his eyes. "How did you get Blackjack when I was counting the cards? Are you cheating?"

Matthew snapped, "If you can't take a loss, just say so. Or should I call you a cheater when you win?"

Dwight looked infuriated. He couldn't

shake the feeling that Matthew was a novice, not someone who could cheat. He angrily tossed a few chips at Matthew and began shuffling the deck.

Matthew focused solely on Sebastian. Watching the scruffy Sebastian puffing one cigarette after another, he wondered what he was thinking.

As the games continued, Sebastian found himself continuously losing money.

After winning two rounds, Matthew lost the third and won three more. Then, he lost two more games. Overall, he'd way more wins than losses.

As the games went on to the wee

hours, the stakes had gone up toz 1,000 dollars a hand. Sebastian had run out of chips and still owed

Matthew 30 thousand dollars.

Dwight slammed his last two chips on the table in front of Matthew and grumbled, "What terrible luck!"

The chips hit the table and bounced up, rolling away on the floor.
