Chapter 2561
"Are you saying that Mr. Frankton would stage an act over a woman?"
Jada had had enough and rolled up her sleeves, ready to beat up Troy. "Show some respect, or I'll end you!"
Frank quickly stopped her-Troy was annoying, but he did not deserve to die yet.
Jada gritted her teeth and instead snapped, "If you suspect Mr. Frankton that much, then let's square down-once he cures that patient later, you will go down on your knees and praise him!"
Clearly, being stopped from getting physical was not discouraging Jada from verbal abuse, though Troy simply snorted. "Just look at that pretty face. Anyone would think that you're some elegant heiress, but you turn out to be more ignorant than some village bumpkin. It sickens me!"
"What was that?"
Even Laura had enough too-she had no idea if Jada was from a village, but she sure was.
"I'm sorry, that's not what I meant. Don't worry about it!" Troy quickly apologized, knowing that he had misspoken.
Even so, he was glaring at Frank through the rearview mirror.
'Just you wait, brat! You're going down and never getting back up!'
Soon, the Audi A5 stopped outside the village, and everyone headed inside, eventually stopping in front of a rundown hut.
Troy gestured at it with his chin. "The old man's kidneys are failing, and no wonder pill in the world can help. You can back off now if you don't want to humiliate yourself—I'm magnanimous enough to let it slide."
"You should be more worried about yourself."
Frank snorted and strode up to knock on the door.
A man in his forties opened the door. His face was filled with speckles, and he
appeared to be working. He asked, "Looking for someone?"noveldrama
Troy walked up, smiling in greeting. "Hello, I'm Troy Layton, a chief at the nearby hospital. Remember me?"
To his surprise, the middle-aged
man scowled right then-he was not
out to humiliate Troy, but the man was simply horrible, demanding special incentives when the middle-aged man's father had been hospitalized.
And it was no one-off occasion either-Troy demanded it every day, at two hundred dollars minimum!
While it would not even cover a meal for the rich, it was a day's wages for the middle-aged man. How would he ever afford that?!
In the end, if he did not go straight to the chief of hospital, he would really have been forced to meet Troy's demands!
Nonetheless, the middle-aged man
soon
noticed Laura and ignored Troy as he greeted her directly. "Oh, Dr. Layton! It's so nice to see you!"
Not only was Laura pretty like one of the metropolitan heiresses, but she was also genuinely kind to patients and their family. She would even provide for them should they lack anything, even if it was out of her own pocket.
For that alone, the middle-aged man was eternally grateful.
"Hello. How's your father?" Laura quickly asked about the patient.
The middle-aged man scowled again. "Same old. How else would he be?"
What do you think?
