Chapter 2463
The priestess took the ring, put on her mask, and started dancing.
Halfway through, she suddenly threw it into the crater!
She turned, ready to explain herself when she saw that Frank remained unaffected.
That left her perplexed. "Aren't you worried that I'd take that ring for myself?"
Frank chuckled. "I gave it to you, so I'm ready to lose it. It's not that important anyway!"
The priestess smiled at Frank's unexpected generosity—she had certainly chosen wisely!
Even as the thought crossed her mind, it happened the ring shot out of the crater. But now, it was blindingly radiant and covered in runes that Frank did not recognize.
Still, he could tell that it was useful for him and so asked, "How did you know this would work?"
The priestess smiled. "I sensed it when I smelled the evil presence, and it felt familiar. I'm sure that it shares the same origins as the meteorite in that crater, so I tested it—I just didn't think it would work."
Frank nodded. "Thanks!"
The priestess smiled, shaking her head. "You're welcome. By the way, how should I address you?"
"Frank Lawrence, at your service. What about you?"
"Just call me Drunken Moon!"
Soon, back at the homestay cottage, Jada was murmuring in confusion, "Drunken Moon? What a strange name."
On the other hand, Moxxi pointed out, "I think you missed something, Mr. Frankton. While the spiritron vein and that meteorite shared the same energy source... It feels smarter, to put it in modern terms. Not only can you control it at will, but you can also grant others its power.
"The fact that the spiritron vein could
think as well sets it apart from the
meteorite. And I remember you saying that you had quite a strong
reading, and there isn't anything
blocking its radiation like the
meteorite. How could we have been immune?" noveldrama
Frank nodded. "Are you suggesting that there's a missing piece to the puzzle?"
Moxxi shrugged, smiling. "I'm just speculating. I wouldn't know if I'm right!"
"Oh, I don't think so!" Jada shook her head, not snapping at Moxxi for once. "We know that there are plenty of spiritron veins across the world. If they were all meteorites, they could only have struck some parts of earth, but not all. That's just unlikely."
Moxxi giggled. "Ms. Turin agrees with me once. How rare."
Jada snorted. "Don't give yourself too much credit. I'm only siding with the truth, not you."
Moxxi smiled but said nothing.
"Anyway," Frank said, "let's contact Jouri. Ask her to send someone over and see what's happening."
"Okay."
The next day, Jouri was there personally and scowled after being told what happened. "Even without radioactive readings, I'm sure human effort won't be able to take it out, though you could give me the inscribed ring, and I'll find out where it's from."
"Wait." Moxxi stopped her, frowning. "Don't you have hazmat suits?"
Even before Jouri argued, Jada was snapping, "Did you think hazmat suits are omnipotent? Nothing will stop the radiation if it is too strong, idiot!"
Moxxi rolled her eyes but could not argue since she had no cause. "Do you mean that we should lower the radiation levels to a tolerable limit for humans?"
"Probably not that low-it's alright as long as the machines survive!"
Moxxi was perplexed. "Sure, humans might be worried about radiation... But machines?"
Jada was unsure what to say and turned toward Jouri in confusion like Moxxi did.
What do you think?
