The Framed Heiress Strikes Back

Chapter 14

Chapter 14 Audition on Set

"Davina... You need to understand your mom's and dad's position here. But that still doesn't excuse the way you've been acting out," Thomas said, his tone softer now, though his need for control was still thick in his voice. "And come on, you and Stella are sisters. You ought to have stood up for her. We even promised we'd make it up to you once you got out. Why do you have to be so rebellious?"

Davina replied sharply. "Do you even hear yourselves? Is that what you call being human?"

And with that, she hung up the phone.

Then she blocked all unknown numbers.

"Insane," she muttered under her breath.

Rain doesn't fall forever.

But the Summers sure keep pouring it on.

They knew Davins didn't have any hard evidence. They'd make sure to scrub everything clean back then.

They'd done everything possible to protect Stella.

But Davina wasn't just after justice.

She wanted everything that was rightfully hers-every last bit they had stolen.

In the Summer Mansion, after Davina ended the call so decisively, they tried to ring her again, only to discover they'd been blocked.

Kate fumed, "I told you! What kind of decent person could grow up in a family like that? Good thing we had her take the fall for Stella back then. If Stella had a criminal record, how could she show her face to society?!"

"What worries me now is if Davina starts blabbing to people," Thomas added, his face darkening. "And she-she actually found someone to be her sugar daddy?! If word gets out that she's our daughter, what will that do to our reputation?!"

Truth be told, when they first found their biological daughter, they were excited.

But Stella was charming. They had raised her themselves and poured years of effort into shaping her into the perfect society darling. Naturally, they favored her. Then came Davina, whom the Palmers always looked down on. She was a bunapkin who was always out of place, doing things that embarrassed them in public; Stella always stood in contrast, only making the difference more glaring. Still, no matter how much they disliked Davina, some instinct-something deeply parental-kept them clinging to the need to control her.

The more Davina resisted, the harder they tried to keep her in their grasp.

And it wasn't just her parents. Her older brothers felt the same way.

After stepping out of the car, Davina made her way toward the film studio.

Percy had gotten her an audition spot for a small role-a female doctor.

Her part wasn't huge, but it had a dramatic scene that could really shine. It suited her well.

Inside the studio

"Next" The director's voice was sharp and impatient.

The whole crew was on edge when Davina entered the set.

Actress after actress walked out of the audition room with their heads down, visibly defeated.

A staffer gave Davina a once-over and spoke curtly. "Here for the audition too? This way to get changed."

But before he could finish helping her, his attention snapped to the studio entrance, and he immediately switched tones, Davina was being neglected.

"Mr. Holt Ms. Summer! Right this way, please!"

"Tim here to audition, caine a sweet voice. Stella smiled politely. "Would it be alright used my own makeup and stylist?

"Of course, the staffer said, practically bowing. The director is right over there. You can head in whenever you're ready."noveldrama

Ryan, practically glued to her side, whispered reassuringly, "Don't worry, Stella. This role is as good as yours. Blair and I are both investors in this project. I've already had a word with the director

Stella gave him an embarrassed smile. "Oh, stop. I want to win it on talent, not because someone pulled strings for me."

Ryan chuckled and ruffled her hair gently. "Of course. You're getting it fair and square."

Davina's brow furrowed. Ofall people-thosetwo?

was the guy the original Davina used to have a crush on. The other was someone she'd have no problem slapping in the face right now,

Hack in school, Davina had only ever liked one guy-Ryan.

He'd seemed like a noble gentleman. When she was being bullied, it was Ryan who had stepped in and helped her out of it.

Since then, she had quietly fallen for him. She even wrote him a love letter once.

But that letter had somehow ended up plastered on the school's bulletin board.

From then on, Davina had become a laughingstock.

She'd even earned a cruel nickname-Ms. Pick Me
