Chapter 31
Meanwhile, Gideon was at the lakefront, looking at the figure in black with keen interest. He chuckled and asked, You seem strong, but I don't recognize you. Where are you from, or rather, who sent you?"
"Tom," the man replied flatly.
"Ah, I see. That fat pig's got some nerve to be still causing trouble," Gideon remarked.
Reaper's gaze turned ice-cold. He stated, "Tom is my friend. Insulting him is insulting me, and doing so is a death
sentence.
"Take ten seconds to savor the sun and this world one last time because I'm sending you to meet your maker soon.
Gideon laughed, genuinely entertained. "At least tell me who you are, so I don't die clueless."
"Reaper-Ninth on the Hitman Guild's Shadow Ranking!"
"Hitman Guild?" Gideon pondered thoughtfully. He suddenly remembered the self-proclaimed King of Hitmen, Jeremy Boisclair, who ranked first in the Hitman Guild's Shadow Ranking.
Jeremy had been caught and brought to Oasis Vale years ago, initially defiant but eventually became completely submissive. Having served his time and fully reformed, he left Oasis Vale six months ago.
Gideon grinned. "Ranked ninth, huh? Not bad, but you're a long way from Jeremy."
Reaper sneered, "You talk as if you've met him."
"Oh, I have. Beat him up, too. That guy trembles at the mere sight of me."
"How dare you!" Reaper roared in fury. "You dare disrespect the King of Assassins? You deserve death a thousand times over! Your time's up! When you meet the Devil, tell him Reaper sent you."
In a flash, Reaper moved with uncanny speed. His explosive power brought him before Gideon in the blink of an eye, and he aimed his dagger at Gideon's throat.
"Fuck off," Gideon growled. With one slap, he sent Reaper flying.
Reaper crashed into the ground with a thunderous impact. Every bone in his body shattered, and some turned to dust.
Then, Gideon mimicked him, saying, "When you meet the Devil, tell him Gideon Snow sent you."
Reaper's eyes widened in disbelief, his mouth gaping open but unable to utter a word. Blood gushed out from his mouth, mixed with chunks of his crushed internal organs. Within ten seconds, the infamous hitman lay lifeless on the ground.
At Goldspire Plaza, Caius received the news and immediately reported it to Lavinia. "Ms. Mosley, the police found a strange corpse by Goldspire Lake.
"They found a token on the body with the number '9' carved on it. Could it be Reaper, ninth on the Shadow Ranking of the Hitman Guild?"
Lavinia was surprised and immediately got up. "Oh? Let's take a look!"
Upon arriving at the scene, her expression changed dramatically. After examining
the body, her eyes flickered with intense shock.noveldrama
"Is it really Reaper, Ms. Mosley?" Calus asked,
"Yes, it's him," Lavinia nodded firmly. Looking around, she marveled, "Whoever
killed Reaper must be someone terrifying!"
When Calus asked why, Lavinia explained, "There are no signs of struggle anywhere, and Reaper only has one palm print on his body, with no other wounds. This means he was killed with a single slap.
"Even I'd only have a 50% chance of capturing, and killing someone like Reaper. Yet, he was killed with just one slap whoever did this is far more powerful than me! It seems like there's an unbelievable O powerhouse hiding in Goldspire!"
Suddenly, a thought struck her. She wondered if the person with such incredible power was Dominic and if he had dealt with Reaper after learning about the latter's plan to kill her.
At this thought, warmth flooded
Lavinia's heart, and she could not help but smile. "Dominic, you truly are my hero. You claim you'll stay out of things, yet you're always secretly watching over me."
What do you think?
