"Hold it right there!"

Once those words rang out, Elura instinctively pulled her clothes back on properly.

Gideon rushed into the room. Eyes landing on Elara, he asked, "Are you okay?"

"It's you!"

Elara had been wondering who'd arrived to save her. She didn't expect it to be Gideon. It would've been a lie to say she didn't feel moved, but what was the use of him showing up?

Nino had no respect for the Carters, much less the Snows, who had fallen from grace. He was only going to get himself killed.

With a foul expression, Nino questioned icily, "Who the hell are you, punk? How dare you cause trouble on my territory? Do you want to die?"

Gideon didn't answer his question. Instead, he asked, "I'd like to know who hit Arnold Seymour, Elara's father. Come forward. Let me take a look at you.

"Hah!" Shawn chortled. He was one of Nino's right-hand men. "It was me who brought my men over to beat Arnold up, punk! What about it? Are you going to try and stand up for him? How are you related to him?"

"I'm his son-in-law!"

"His son-in-law?"

Startled, Shawn pointed at Elara and said, "That means you re her husband." Gideon didn't deny it.

Immediately, everyone in the room laughed, even Nino. He looked at Tom and said suggestively, "Looks like the show is about to get even more exciting, Mr. Horne."

Tom's head was filled with ideas, too. Smirking, he remarked, "I didn't expect you to be married, Elara. Excellent! This makes things even more fun.” 1

Naturally, Gideon noticed right away that something was amiss. He asked, "Who is he? Did something happen between you two?" 1

"He's Tom Horne. We went to college together," Elara said vehemently. "He resents me because I rejected him back then. Now that he's made his fortune, he got Mr. Duran to capture me to try and humiliate me. He wants me to do a striptease in front of everyone."

"Oh?"

Gideon narrowed his eyes. Regardless of the circumstances Elara was legally his wife. Making her perform a striptease to humiliate her was akin to humiliating him as well. He sneered at the thought of that.

Out of the blue, Tom felt a chill down his spine. The look in Gideon's eyes was terrifying, but Tom's rage immediately got the better of him. He snarled, "I don't care who you are! Anyone who ruins my fun will have to pay the price!

"Whether she likes it or not, Elara is going to perform the striptease today. In fact, I'm going to make her toast to all of the men here today while still naked!"

With a devilish grin, Tom said, "Shawn, subdue that guy. I want him to watch as his wife is forced to strip while he is powerless to do anything about it. I bet it's going to be fun to watch."

"You sure know how to have fun, Mr. Horne," Shawn replied. He clapped his hands and instructed, "Hey, you lot. Take him down and hold him to the floor."

A few burly men rushed forward, but at the very next moment, they all went flying backward against the wall. Sporting bleeding heads and broken bones, they all blacked out instantly.

Gideon eyed Shawn and said icily, "You, and all those who hit my father-in-law, come forward and break both your arms. Hurry up! Don't waste my time."

All was silent as everyone stared in shock. What on earth was Gideon saying? Did he just ask them to break their own arms? Had he gone crazy?

Elara was also pissed. She thought Gideon had come to save her, but instead, he was making things worse!

They were screwed now. Nino would be outraged, and things would end terribly. Even her parents would be affected.
