Chapter 1681
Asa definitely remembered that whole situation. The main reason he sent Santos to treat Ben was because of some impressive brainpower data that came through from Ben's side. Sadly, they never managed to track down where exactly that data originated from.
But now, Santos was bringing it up again, and Asa's curiosity got piqued. "Hmm, so what's up with that?" he asked, his interest clearly sparked.
Santos didn't fully get why Asa was so set on bringing Ben back to his senses, but since Cian had ties with the Davis family now, he figured having another person in the mix might help keep things under wraps.
"She wouldn't just disable someone without a good reason," Santos muttered, trying to push past the pain in his chest.
This meant Ben must've done something to land himself in hot water back then. Asa was quick on the uptake. Ben might be a bit of a mess-up, but when it came to research, he was all in. And whoever Santos was after surely wasn't just anyone.
Asa narrowed his eyes, wondering if the data Ben received had something to do with the person Santos mentioned. "Who are you looking for, exactly?"noveldrama
Even though Santos was nearly out cold, he managed to catch Asa's question and whispered back, "Mirabella."
"Mirabella?" Asa asked, the name ringing a bell. He quickly connected the dots. "Is she the sister from the Davis family?"
He remembered asking Santos to fix Ben up, and in return, Asa helped Santos find out who had knocked Ben out of commission. So Mirabella's name wasn't new to Asa, especially since she had a close connection with James.
Santos didn't say another word before finally passing out. Seeing this, Asa decided to call it a day, telling others to clean up the room before he stepped out.
As he made his way downstairs, his assistant came in with a sense of urgency, nodding respectfully at Asa. "Sir, there are quite a few people, both openly and sneaking around, trying to track down Mr. Santos as if they're digging for treasure."
Asa flopped onto the sofa, stretching out his long legs, his chiseled features keeping that cool, detached vibe. "Let 'em look," he said nonchalantly.
"Got it." The assistant placed a glass of water on the coffee table in front of him. "I've made sure all traces of Mr. Santos are wiped clean. They won't find a thing."
Asa drummed his fingers on his
knee, not worried in the slightest et
about Santos being found. After a moment, he added, "Check out what happened today."
The assistant nodded in agreement and quickly left the room.
Asa gazed out the floor-to-ceiling windows, his deep blue eyes reflecting emotions
that were hard to read. He knew exactly what Santos was up to.
A slight smirk tugged at Asa's lips, sensing that Merrywoods was about to get pretty interesting.
**The afternoon flew by.
Mirabella still hadn't come to by evening.
The hospital doctors had run a bunch of blood tests, but aside from some changes in her antibodies, everything else was just like the first test.
Even the blood specialists were scratching their heads.
James had asked the doctors to check Mirabella's coat for any biochemical traces, but nothing turned up.
When James got this news, he felt even gloomier. He knew Mirabella's medical skills were top-notch, and the fact that no drugs were detected meant whatever it was, it had to be something really unusual.
