The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1672

The Chaos Zone got its name for a reason. It was a wild, lawless place where all sorts of unsavory characters gathered. Shootings and robberies were just a part of daily life, making it a place you really didn't want to be unless you had to.

When Curtis pulled up at the airport, he didn't have a clue that they were heading into this notorious area. He had only brought a small crew along, not nearly enough for the kind of risks they'd be facing.

James, calm as ever, just gave Curtis a quick look and said, "Half an hour."

Curtis nearly stomped on the brake instead of the gas when he heard that. "James, there's no way we can make it in less than fifty minutes!"

They were starting from one side of the city and had to get all the way to the other, not to mention the roads were a mess, and they needed a special pass just to enter the Chaos Zone!

Even though he had the pass, Curtis was no pro driver, and thirty minutes seemed impossible.

James didn't respond, just silence filled the air.

Curtis sighed, ruffling his hair in frustration, then buckled down and got the car moving faster once they were out of the airport. He wasn't a racecar driver, but he pushed the car like one, his nerves on edge. Luck was on their side, though-they didn't run into any trouble and made it there in exactly half an hour.

They rolled up to a run-down old house that had clearly seen better days.

Curtis parked and stared at the crumbling mansion. Ivy was crawling up the sides, threatening to cover the place entirely, and the windows looked ready to fall off any second. It was more of a haunted house than a mansion, and it seemed abandoned.

He couldn't help but wonder why Ms. Mirabella had chosen this place, but he kept his questions to himself.

tead, he sent a quick text to the

team, reminding them to stay alert.

In the back seat, Mirabella shrugged off her coat and passed it to James. Her

eyes danced with a mysterious light that was hard to pin down.

"You stay here. I won't be long," Mirabella said, reaching for the door.

Before she could step out, James caught her wrist. "I can't let my girlfriend go in there alone."

Mirabella paused, giving James a sly smile. She flipped her grip, pulling him closer, and planted a firm kiss on his lips.noveldrama

James was caught off guard. The kiss was brief but left him momentarily speechless. "Wait for me," Mirabella whispered before letting go and stepping out.

The door clicked shut, snapping James out of his daze. Watching her walk toward the mansion, he shook his head with a smirk. She always managed to surprise him.

Curtis, who had watched the whole thing from the front seat, was still trying to wrap his head around it. Even though he was single, he figured guys were supposed the shots. Who knew James had such a soft side? Curtis's perception of his tough, no-nonsense boss was taking a hit.

James, unfazed by Curtis's silent musings, waited until Mirabella disappeared from view. Then he pulled a black mask out of his pocket, slipped it on, and exited the car.
