The Double or more Life of the Fake Heiress (Mirabella)

Chapter 1661

Years back, Hunter disappeared without a trace. Jim scoured every inch of Merrywoods but came up empty-handed. Eventually, the heartbreaking news reached him: Hunter had been killed and was gone for good.

Jim couldn't bring himself to accept that Hunter was truly gone, so he never stopped searching.

Later, he stumbled upon a list from a medical school with Hunter's name on it, revealing that she was part of a tragic experiment where all participants perished.

The incident was such a colossal failure that the authorities wiped out all records to keep it under wraps. No matter how hard Jim tried, he hit a dead end every time.

Despite never giving up over the years, Jim had reluctantly accepted that Hunter had fallen victim to those ruthless experiments.

But now, looking at this photo, Jim felt something stir inside him, like his long- numb heart was waking up.

If this picture was really from years ago, it wouldn't look like this now.

Jim finally met Santos's gaze. "What's your connection to Hunter?"

The surname was rare but not unheard of.

Even though Santos had left the Stevenson family, he wasn't about to spill the Massolio family secrets to a stranger. He simply said, "We come from the same place."

Being from the same neck of the woods naturally suggested they knew each other.

Jim kept his voice steady, avoiding the question of whether Hunter was alive. Instead, he asked, "Where is she now?"

"I'm afraid I can't say," Santos replied calmly, adding, "Since Nellie doesn't want Mr. Davis finding her, she must have her reasons."

Jim wasn't bothered by Santos's response; instead, he felt a sense of relief. His stern face revealed nothing.

After a moment, he spoke quietly, "So, what's your endgame here?"

In this world, nothing's free, and Jim didn't believe these two showed up without an agenda. Santos glanced at Asa, then said, "We just want to be friends with Mr. Davis, nothing more."

"Oh? That's refreshing," Jim chuckled, gesturing to his butler. "Fetch my special coffee leaves for our guests to take home."

The butler nodded and quickly retrieved two boxes from the storage room.

Jim watched as the butler handed over the coffee, then savored a sip from his own cup. "This coffee's quite a ride-bitter yet sweet just like the highs and lows of life." noveldrama

Santos frowned, ready to speak, but Asa shot him a look.

"Thanks for the gift, Mr. Davis. We'll be on Our way. Next time, we'll properly when you have time," Asa said with a polite nod.

He got the hint that Jim was politely showing them the door.

Santos realized lingering would do no good, even if he had more to say.

Jim wasn't an easy man to deal with.

They left, guided by the butler.

Outside the villa, the butler politely closed the door behind them and headed back inside.

Santos watched the butler walk away, his gaze icy. He wasn't used to being treated like this.

"One day, this place will have a new owner," Santos murmured with a cold chuckle.
