Chapter 1629
Mr. Hammond's mind snapped back to the present. He was about to share his thoughts with Joen but hesitated, realizing Joen might be swamped. "No worries, Doctor. You carry on," he said, deciding it was best not to complicate things.
Joen simply acknowledged with a nod and hung up the call.
After handing his phone back to his assistant, Joen took a moment to himself instead of heading straight back to the lab. After a brief pause, he turned to his assistant and said, "Could you find out when the conference wraps up this morning? Also, see if the student who had the accident yesterday has shown up. If she's here, ask her to swing by the dean's office."
The assistant nodded, though curiosity got the better of him. "Doctor, why do you need to see that student?"
"Summer's my student, and after what happened yesterday, I need to clear things up," Joen replied confidently.
The assistant understood the reasoning but found it odd that Dr. Joen, known for his fiery temper, would personally handle this. Still, not wanting to press further, he left the office.
Joen's gaze lingered on the doorway, deep in thought, as if he was planning something significant.
Meanwhile, Grady was taking a leisurely walk through Riverside University's campus, with Shay, his bodyguard, by his side and a professor leading the way.
Shay had a discreet earpiece, occasionally whispering updates into it. "Grady, our team is set. Once the professors leave at noon, we're good to go."
Shay maintained a cool, professional demeanor, speaking so softly that only Grady could hear, keeping the professor ahead blissfully unaware.
Grady raised an eyebrow, absentmindedly playing with his wooden bracelet, his focus ahead, exuding a laid-back vibe. "Keep everyone sharp," he advised. "Got it," Shay nodded, eyes gleaming with the excitement of the impending task. They weren't here for charity. They were here to settle a score.
Grady shot Shay a warning look. "Keep it under the radar. Finish up and leave quietly."
"No worries, Grady!" Shay grinned.
When it came to stealthy operations, he and Atlas were a formidable team.
The conference was winding down.

"They're addressing the pool incident from yesterday," Robert explained, nodding towards the waiting professor.

"We'll tag along," her friends chimed in, sharing a look and speaking in unison.
