He cradled her petite face in his hands, as if trapping her within his pow

Aurelia blinked in surprise, “Why? Even if we fight tooth and nail, it wouldn’t affect the vitality of Astral

Enterprises.”

Arnold wagged his slender finger, “They’re not after Astral Enterprises. They’re after you, waiting for

the right. moment to poach you.”

“Wow, isn’t my sister a talent then?” Avery laughed.

Aurelia didn’t see it as a good thing. She smirked in self–mockery. “This just shows that they have no

faith in me, thinking I’ll lose and have to leave.”

Avery glanced at her, “Is your opponent tough?”

“Her sister is the boss’s sweetheart, and she is the darling. She’s indulged in every way possible. No

matter what she does, the boss turns a blind eye. Even if she does wrong, the boss will cover for her.

What chance do I have against such a person?”

Aurelia became more and more frustrated, and her resentment was like a surging river, continually

flooding

her.

Avery showed a trace of sympathy. He put his arm around her shoulder, “Then you better jump ship.

The last time I saw your boss at the Muse Club, I knew he was unreliable, his personal life is chaotic.

Although he is Arno’s brother, he is nowhere near as good as Arno.”

Aurelia took a sip of her juice, unconsciously looked down at her slightly bulging belly.

She wondered if all this negative energy would affect the baby.

But their biological father, indeed, was in her bad books, the worst kind!

Arnold served her a piece of abalone, “If you really want to switch jobs, take your time and choose the

most

suitable one.”

“Yeah,” Aurelia nodded.

Let her new design be the perfect end to her time at Astral Enterprises. By then, she would also be

ready to leave.

She would leave Astral Enterprises, cut ties with him completely, and never cross paths again.

After dinner, Aurelia returned to her room.

She was a bit tired, so she fell onto the bed, not wanting to move.

www.

A large shadow loomed over her, blocking the light above her head.

She unconsciously opened her eyes.

A tall figure came into view.

The man’s handsome face was colder than an iceberg. His deep eyes stared at her, the chill

penetrating, extremely disturbing.

She shivered with terror, almost screaming out loud.

“Why are you here?”

Leopold leaned over her, pinning her down.

“Did you really think you could hide your sneaky moves from me?”

Aurelia was ennoyed. Her mood was bad, and her courage grew. She kicked at his leg.

“I’ve done nothing wrong, I’ve never done anything sneaky. I came to visit the set with Arno openly.

Avery got this role and signed with Serenity Films, all thanks to Arno’s help.

She stared at him defiantly, “Every time I’m in trouble, it’s Arno who helps me. The luckiest thing in my

life is to have such a good friend. I would never distance myself from the most important person in my

life for an insignificant person.”

Each of her words was like a sharp thorn, piercing Leopold’s heart.

Arnold was the most important person to her, and he was just an insignificant person?

Without comparison, there would be no hurt!

He felt a sharp pain in his heart, as if he was having a heart attack.

He gritted his teeth hard, enduring the pain. He whispered, “Whether you admit it or not, I am your Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

“Only temporarily. Once the baby is born, I will leave.”

She spoke each word resolutely, without any trace of regret.

erful grasp.

“Whether you leave or not is up to me!”

Her heart skipped a beat, “What do you mean? We signed the papers. We have no relationship

anymore. once we get divorced. You can’t control me.”

His gaze was dark and intense. His eyes nearly bulged out as if he wanted to swallow her whole.

“Whether we divorce or not is also up to me!”

His tone was fierce, domineering, and tyrannical as if a despot issuing a decree.

Her face paled, as if drained of all color. His words filled her with terror.

Swallowing hard, she managed to regain her composure, “I’m afraid it’s not up to you. Elowen is your

father’s chosen daughter–in–law. Marrying her is your responsibility, not just to your Aunt but also to

the entire Stirling family.”

A sinister and cold smile tugged at Leopold’s lips, “Who am I afraid of? Cross me, and I promise you

won’t

get your way!”

His tone was chilling, akin to the clash of icicles, sending a shiver down her spine.

She clenched her fists, mustering up her courage.

She couldn’t fight him head–on. She needed to be soft against his hardness!

After a moment of silence, she loosened her grip, forcing a self–deprecating smile on her face, “Mr.

Leopold, I’m just a small fry, not worth your time. Consider me a burr under your saddle and let me

go.”

Leopold was taken aback, his icy eyes flickering slightly.

He thought, “Playing coy now, are you?”

“And what if I don’t want to let go?”

His words were riddled with double meaning!

She laughed awkwardly, patting his shoulder in a placating manner, “Keeping a burr under the saddle

is uncomfortable, and it’s bad for your health. You need to let it go. It’ll make you feel lighter and clear–

headed.”

Leopold felt a surge of anger held back, wanting to punish her to alleviate his frustration.

“The most annoying thing about you is your mouth.”

She shivered, quickly covering her mouth, fearing he would force himself on her.

“I won’t speak anymore, okay?”

Leopold was speechless, his fist landing on a pillow, his frustration multiplying.

This woman was so good at infuriating him.

He stood up, heading to the refrigerator to grab a bottle of pure water to cool down.

“Are you planning to admit defeat and flee the battlefield?”

“What do you mean?” Aurelia feigned ignorance.

But he saw right through her, “Stop pretending. Your little tricks can’t fool me!”

Aurelia sat up, reaching for an orange from the bedside table, slowly peeling it.

“I’m stepping back, to make things easier for you. Isn’t that a good thing?”

Leopold snatched the orange from her hand, quickly peeling it and handing it back.

“Weren’t you always the one to fight when faced with strength?”

She lowered her head, looking at the orange in her hand, a wistful smile crossing her face,

“I can also know when to retreat. A good bird chooses its tree to nest, and a good servant chooses his

master. If you don’t value me, it’s only fair that I find a new boss, right?”

She continued, changing her tone, “But don’t worry, I’ll finish my current projects. I always see things. through.”

Leopold frowned. He didn’t like that.

“I’ve never doubted your abilities.”

Aurelia looked up at him, her eyes wide open, the innate stubbornness shining through.

“I can’t accept being second to Evelyn. Would you, if you were in my place?”

Leopold placed his hand on her head, his handsome face under the lights seemed especially

mysterious and profound.

“You think you’ll lose before you’ve even started?”
