Chapter 327
Chapter 327
When Aurelia rushed back to her apartment, Arnold was already home, cradling William in his arms, gently massaging his stomach.
“Feeling better?”
“Just a little.” William was over the moon. He had both his mom and dad by his side.
Aurelia heaved a sigh of relief, and gently pinched his chubby cheek, “Less ice cream in winter,
okay?”
“Okay.” William stuck out his tongue and said, “When are we going back to Goldstone?” He was
worried about his mom here. It felt dangerous like she could be taken away at any moment. Arnold
shared his son’s sentiments. The longer Aurelia stayed here, the more he worried.
Aurelia had something to discuss with Arnold, “I’ve been doing nothing at home. I’m thinking about
returning to Astral Enterprises. If you agree…” Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Arnold’s heart skipped a beat and asked, “Did Leopold ask you to come back?”
Aurelia pursed her lips, “After Leopold announced our relationship, Evelyn Alcott left Astral Enterprises
and moved abroad. Darcy is managing the Design Department now. Ethereal Gems‘ newly organized
design team, using my previous ideas, has made quite a few innovative designs. They’ve surpassed
Astral Enterprises in sales for two consecutive quarters. Astral Enterprises is the company I used to
work for, and Darcy is one of the members of my team. I can’t just watch them lose.”
Arnold wrapped his arm around her and said, “I always respect your decisions. But you can’t get too
close to Leopold, or I’ll get jealous.”
She looked up into his eyes, her gaze serious and sincere, “Leopold and I are finished. There’s no
lingering connection. I’ll divorce him in six months, and I promise.”
Her words reassured him, and a smile of relief tugged at his lips.
William had fallen asleep in his arms. Arnold lovingly kissed his forehead, laid him down in bed, and
tucked him in.
Just then, his phone rang. Marcia had sent a message, “Arnold, do you still want to know who my
accomplice is? Let’s go to Freysland tomorrow. I’ll introduce you.”
At the Stirling Mansion.
Kane looked at the pancakes on the dining table, a sense of disappointment filling his
eyes.
Mom wasn’t coming back, was she?
10:43
Pancakes didn’t taste good when they were cold.
Leopold looked at his son and couldn’t help but think of his own childhood. He, too, had longed for
paternal love and attention. But no matter how well he did, his father’s
attention was always on Arnold.
Every birthday, Arnold would receive carefully chosen gifts from their father. Leopold’s birthdays,
however, were always forgotten.
His father made him swear on his deathbed never to harm Arnold. It was as if among all his children, only Arnold was his own, and the others were all dispensable.
He picked up a piece of pancake and tasted it, “It’s good. Mom would have loved it. Let’s take today’s
batch to Granny and Laura.”
“Okay.” Kane nodded.
Back in his room, he called William on his smartwatch.
William woke up from a dream, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
“What’s up, Kane?” He wasn’t trying to take Mom away, was he?
Kane asked, “William, is your stomach ache better?”
William replied, “No, it’s still hurting.”
Kane said with concern, “Then rest and take your medicine. I made pancakes. When you’re feeling
better, I’ll have Mom bring some for you.”
“Okay.” After hanging up, William felt guilty. Had he done something wrong? Kane was mom’s child
too. He needed her as well. If only they could live together. That way, they wouldn’t have to worry
about losing mom.
