Chapter 286
Chapter 286
Zack’s face turned ashen, “Wasn’t the family mansion meant to be saved for Avery?”
Jolin replied, “Avery’s career in entertainment industry has taken off, who knows when he’ll settle
down? As. long as Aurelia is well, Avery will be too. Surely, our son–in–law wouldn’t mistreat his
brother–in–law, would he?”
She used to work in finance at a multinational corporation, and was known for her sharp mind and
good judgement.
If Aurelia were to marry someone ordinary, she would never consider giving her the ancestral house.
Zack was worried about his mother’s safety. Despite her often cold treatment, she was still his mother,
and he couldn’t just abandon her.
“What about my mother? She’s old and frail, and she can’t handle all this upheaval. What if she falls
sick?”
Jolin replied, “I’ll call the police now. They’ll rescue her and we’ll find a way to send her back to
Pebblebrook. She should stop meddling in Ritchie’s affairs.”
Aurelia descended the staircase, catching snippets of the conversation.
The police found Belinda that very night. Much to their surprise, she adamantly refused to return unless
Aurelia paid her ransom. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
The police had no choice but to threaten her with arrest. Only then did she agree to leave quietly.
Belinda remained relentless, she called her second son to come to Elysium. She knew she couldn’t
convince her daughter–in–law, so she would have to manipulate her obedient son.
Zack, who was planning to visit his children anyway, arrived by Amtrak the next day.
Aurelia took him to Avery’s apartment.
Avery had just returned from a movie shoot. He had a few days off before joining a new film crew, but
the shooting location was in Elysium, so father and son would have plenty of time together.
Seeing his sister, Avery opened his arms wide for a bear hug, “Sis, you’re in great shape! Arnold will be
smitten when he gets back.”
For safety reasons, Aurelia and Leopold’s relationship was still being kept under wraps.
So, Avery still believed the baby was Arnold’s.
Aurelia and her mother agreed to keep their father in the dark about this matter. The fewer people who
knew, the better.
“Zack, did you bring the property title for the mansion?”
“I did.” Zack pulled out the property title and notarized document from his bag. Jolin handed them to her
daughter, instructing her to keep them safe.
Aurelia fetched juice from the cabinet and handed a bottle to her father, “Dad, Avery’s fan base has
reached over ten million and he even has a fan club. In a few days, I’ll take you and mom to see a live
TV show
recording.”
“That sounds great.” Zack nodded, more concerned about his daughter’s marriage plans, “Aurelia, now
that you have a baby, have you got married? When’s the wedding? We need to start planning.”
Jolin waved him off, “Don’t worry about Aurelia’s affairs. I’ve got everything under control.”

Avery chuckled, “Dad, Arnold said he’s taking Aurelia to get married in Malta. They’re waiting for the
baby to grow a little before traveling abroad.”
“Oh.” Zack nodded, “As long as your mother is managing things, I’m not worried.”
Aurelia forced a smile. By the time of the baby’s christening, she and Leopold would be divorced. She
planned to secure a sizable settlement to console her mother, hoping that would soften the blow.
That evening, they dined at a local restaurant before heading off to meet Belinda at a prearranged
cafe.
Aurelia booked a private corner booth to avoid disturbing the public. Perla and her son accompanied
Belinda.
The moment she saw her son, she broke down in tears, “You ungrateful child! I raised you with my
sweat and blood. And when I was taken, you didn’t even come to rescue me. Do you want to see me
die? Aren’t you afraid of divine retribution?”
“That’s enough, stop putting on a show.” Jolin scoffed, “Even the loan sharks say that you went
voluntarily. When the police came to rescue you, you refused to leave.”
