Chapter 241
Chapter 241
In the evening, Aurelia stayed at the Sunbeam Retreat, and as dawn broke, Arnold was already there
to pick her up, driving her to work.
He accompanied Aurelia to the entrance of the Design Department. “I need to head off to Starhaven,
but it won’t be long. After the main photoshoot, I’ll leave the rest to my team,” he assured her.
He was hesitant to leave her for too long, fearful that Leopold might snatch her away.
She gave him a small smile, “Don’t worry, work is important. Just text me when you arrive.”
He gently brushed her hair, “Promise me. Whatever happens, let me know right away. Don’t try to
shoulder it alone.”
“Sure,” she nodded.
The office was abuzz with many colleagues witnessing the scene.
What did this imply? How could they not speculate? The office chatter was ablaze.
“Early in the morning and we’re already getting a dose of Arnold and Aurelia’s love story.”
“I told you Aurelia’s baby must be Arnold’s. They’ve been secretly dating for a while, isn’t pregnancy
the next logical step?”
“I’ve never seen Aurelia at any clubs. She’s so frugal she won’t even splurge on coffee, how could she
possibly be partying and fooling around?”
“High society bachelors like Arnold always go for girls like Aurelia. They are pure, appealing, and
virtuous.”
“The Stirling family has a tradition of mourning for three years. Arnold probably wants to get married
soon, and that’s why Aurelia’s pregnant. I heard Evelyn is also trying to conceive. If she doesn’t, she’ll
have to wait two more years.”
“The Design Department is truly a hotbed of talent. One is set to be the CEO’s wife, the other the This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
CEO’s
sister–in–law.”
Aurelia sank into her chair, troubled. This was not the scenario she had hoped for.
Arnold had chosen to bear the brunt of all the gossip, protecting her from the whispering crowd, but
how would they deal with this huge lie in the future?
Soon, the juicy gossip reached Leopold’s ears.
He was furious, and with a forceful grip, he snapped his pen in two because of anger.
Kevin sighed inwardly, bracing himself for the storm that was about to ensue.
“Mr. Leopold, remember the bigger picture. Arnold’s interference only diverts suspicion away from you
as the father,” he advised.
Leopold took a deep breath, “And how do you know he doesn’t have ulterior motives?”
Kevin shrugged, “All he seems to want is Ms. Aurelia’s love. He even put aside the World Wonders
magazine photoshoot to fly back from Starhaven. He’s clearly serious about her. Since you don’t care
about Aurelia, why not let Arnold play the scapegoat? As long as the baby is safe.”
Kevin’s words ignited his anger, yet he had no outlet for his rage, causing him great distress.
“I may not care about Aurelia, but since she is my wife, she should act accordingly.”
Kevin sighed, “That won’t last much longer. Once the baby is born, you two will divorce. I suspect that
even if
you don’t initiate it, Ms. Aurelia will. The sooner she regains her freedom, the sooner she can be with
the one she loves.”
Kevin was deliberately provoking him.
It was a form of reverse psychology, hoping to bring Leopold to his senses before he ends up in a
mess trying to win back his wife.
Each word was like a bullet, hitting Leopold where it hurt the most, causing his nerves to tense up.
Kevin observed his reactions carefully, and continued, “Ms. Aurelia is not like other women, she won’t
make the first move. If you like her, you need to be proactive. The early bird gets the worm. If someone
else wins her heart, it’ll be much harder to win it back.”
Leopold clenched his teeth, a cold glint in his eyes, “Enough with your ramblings. Call Aurelia in right
now.”
