Chapter 211
Chapter 211
Aurelia washed some cherries, placed them in a fruit bowl and offered them to him to eat.
He popped one into his mouth, casually spat out the pit, and nonchalantly said, “Sis, do you know who
I saw downstairs when I arrived?”
Aurelia was slightly taken aback. “Who did you see?”
“Your boss, Leopold.” Avery announced, scrutinizing her every facial expression.
Aurelia was startled, her heart skipped a beat. She picked up a cherry and put it in her mouth, using
the act of eating to mask her inner turmoil, striving to maintain her composure. “That’s impossible. Are
you sure you didn’t mistake him for someone else?”
“With a face like that, there aren’t many people in the world who could be mistaken for him,” Avery
shrugged, suspecting that his sister was drawn by his handsome features.
Aurelia swallowed hard, trying to sound more composed than she felt. “What would the big boss be
doing in our neighborhood? Is he here to collect rent?”
Avery scoffed, “Does a big shot like him need to personally collect rent? He’s probably here to see you,
isn’t he?”
Aurelia rolled her eyes, feigning calmness, “What kind of joke are you making? Why would he want to
see me?”
Deciding to cut to the chase, Avery said bluntly, “Sis, you don’t need to hide it from me. I know all about Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
you two.”
A sharp pang swept over Aurelia’s heart, her nerves tightened, and her face turned slightly pale. “What
do you know?”
“You two have some sort of secret affair. I saw him leaving your room late at night when we were at the
film city, and I also saw you two kissing in the parking lot.” Avery whispered.
Aurelia gasped, never having expected her little secret to be discovered by her younger brother.
Her mind was racing, trying to come up with a plausible explanation.
“You misunderstood. He came to see me at the hotel purely for business. As for the parking lot, it was
definitely a misunderstanding. My seatbelt got stuck, and when he was helping me, my hair
accidentally got entangled with his button. It might have looked like we were kissing, but actually, he
was just helping me untangle my hair.”
Leopold’s car windows were specially treated to prevent peeping, so her brother probably didn’t get a
clear look, only a vague impression.
Avery clearly didn’t believe her, pouting, “I’m not a fool.”
Aurelia smacked him on the head, “So you think I’m a fool? I’ve had plenty of suitors, why would I have
an illicit affair with my own boss? Why would I degrade myself like that? Don’t I care about my
reputation and dignity?”
She paused for a moment, raising her voice slightly. “I’ve been single all these years just to find a man
who meets my standards and who truly loves me. Our big boss is as cold as an iceberg, lacking
warmth and consideration, he is miles away from my ideal man. Me, having an affair with him? Am I
crazy? Or did I get water in my brain?” She swallowed and changed her tone slightly. “Besides, he’s
extremely picky. He only has eyes for the shining stars, the wealthy heiresses. He wouldn’t even give a
second glance to us ordinary folks. Kissing me? Ha, even I find that hard to believe. What, did I
suddenly find myself in a fairy tale?”
She spoke a lot all at once. Every word, Leopold heard clearly from the other room. His eyebrows
furrowed,
a storm brewing on his handsome face, his eyes growing colder.
So she thought she could clear her own name by tarnishing his? She’s got some nerve!
Avery fell silent. He had to admit, his sister’s eloquence was quite persuasive.
