Chapter 200
By the time Aurelia got back, it was nearing the end of the workday. Upon receiving a call from the
secretary, she made her way towards the CEO’s office.
Pushing open the door, she tiptoed in, sneaking a quick glance at the man seated behind the desk.
He was engrossed in sending an email, his face expressionless, his emotions unreadable.
After all these days, his anger should’ve subsided, right? Otherwise, he wouldn’t have summoned her.
“Mr. Leopold, you wanted to see me?” she asked.
Leopold paused his typing, his gaze cold and piercing as it swept across her face, “How’s the
preparation for ‘Destiny‘?”
“It’s in production, everything’s going smoothly,” she responded carefully.
He leaned back in his office chair, propping his forehead with his hand, “Do you think we can beat
Ethereal
Gems?”
She shrugged, a hint of amusement flashing in her eyes, “Absolutely, otherwise my career shift would
be in jeopardy, no?”
A shadow crossed Leopold’s face. Was she still thinking about switching jobs?
“Stop thinking about things you shouldn’t.”
Aurelia rolled her eyes. Just as birds choose the best trees to nest in, why would she settle for
mediocrity?
“I’ll send over the work report tomorrow morning. Anything else you need, Mr. Leopold?” NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
A hint of annoyance flashed in Leopold’s eyes. He narrowed them slightly, his icy gaze more chilling
than before.
Was she being deliberately obtuse today?
He was clearly trying to extend an olive branch, a chance for her to smooth things over. Could she
really not see it?
“Don’t you have anything you want to say to me?”
Aurelia paused, her gaze locked on his. The realization dawned on her quickly.
If the big boss was offering her a chance to make peace, she’d have to be a fool not to take it.
“Mr. Leopold, thank you for the handbag you gave me. It’s beautiful.”
Leopold stiffened, a dark glint flashing in his eyes.
Kevin actually dared to go against his orders!
Aurelia quickly interjected, “Don’t blame Kevin. He threw it out, I picked it up. You can be mad at me,
Mr. Leopold, but don’t take it out on the purse. It’s innocent.”
Leopold pinched the bridge of his nose, speechless.
Aurelia’s thick eyelashes fluttered, a crafty glint in her eyes. She strolled around the desk, stood in front
of him, and pulled out a small gift box from her pocket. “Mr. Leopold, I have a gift for you too.”
Leopold’s heart skipped a beat, a glimmer of curiosity in his eyes.
Aurelia opened the box, revealing a pair of cufflinks.
“I spent the entire night designing these, and then had them made at the factory. Pretty nice, right?”
She grinned, her dimples dancing on her cheeks.
Leopold watched her, his eyes shimmering with intrigue.
His irritation seemed to evaporate instantly, leaving no trace behind.
She had traveled all the way to the factory just to make him a gift?
Well, that showed some sincerity!
“What’s the idea behind these?”
The cufflinks didn’t match. Weren’t they supposed to be a pair?
Aurelia smirked mysteriously, “The one with the blue gemstone represents Earth, the one with the
yellow stone represents the moon. They orbit each other, forever inseparable. I should’ve used
diamonds, but I’m too poor to afford them. So, I used common gemstones instead. But it still cost me a
small fortune.”
She added quickly, “I paid for it with my own salary, not your money.”
Leopold couldn’t help but chuckle.
His deep, resonant laugh echoed in the room.
For someone as stingy as her, this indeed was a significant expense. It wouldn’t be easy for her.
Aurelia stared at him in surprise. This was the second time she had seen him laugh.
He was handsome, like a night–blooming cereus, brief but precious.
Realizing he had let his guard down, he quickly composed himself. His smile disappeared as abruptly
as it had come.
With a swift move, he reached out, encircled her waist, and pulled her into his arms, his hand resting
on her lower abdomen.
