Chapter 190

Leopold’s heart gave a violent throb. So Aurelia’s sulking and giving him the cold shoulder for no

apparent reason was due to hormonal issues?

It had been three days and these damn hormones still hadn’t settled?

He took a deep breath, taking the book from Laura’s hand, “I know what to do.”

Laura chuckled, “Girls love presents. Aurelia, she’s too frugal. She hardly ever buys anything for

herself. Even her handbag looks too old. Every girl should carry a decent handbag.”

Leopold gave her a sidelong glance, his eyes darkening. A penny–pinching miser, only knew how to

save money but not how to spend it?

“It’s getting late. You should rest.”

Back in his car, he fished out his phone and sent a WhatsApp message to Kevin: [Get me a handbag.]

Kevin understood immediately, his eyes swelling with joyful tears.

Goodness, he has finally seen the light! A cause for celebration indeed!

[On it.]

Leopold tossed the cell phone onto the passenger seat. His icy gaze flickered ominously in the night.

He was doing this entirely for the children, and it had nothing to do with that woman!

How could he ever spoil a woman, let alone coax her? No way!

At the Sunbeam Retreat, Jolin had finished cooking.

Aurelia had some soup and sighed in satisfaction, “No matter how good the food at the restaurants is, it

can never compare to mom’s home cooking.”

Jelena chimed in, “Aunt Jolin’s cooking is the best. That’s why I would always follow Aurelia home after

school, eat, and then wait for dad to pick me up.”

Jolin sighed, “Time flies so fast. In a blink of an eye, you’re all grown up.”

As she was speaking, her phone rang. It was a call from her husband Zack Hawthorne.

She put him on speakerphone, “Zack, I’m having dinner with the kids. Jelena’s here too. Have you had

dinner?”

“I ate earlier.” Zack’s voice was a bit heavy, “This afternoon, my mom came to me to discuss selling the

family house. Just as you predicted, my sister–in–law wants to sell it to buy a place for her son in

Elysium.”

Jolin hummed lowly, anger welling up, “And what did you say?”

“I told Mom, over my dead body. We’re still running the store, if we sell the house, what about our

business?” Zack replied.

“That’s right, let them daydream! That family is not only selfish but also unscrupulous. Full of schemes,

with no regard for us! If they want to buy a house for their son, they should figure it out without touching

the family house.” Jolin huffed.

Aurelia and Jelena exchanged a glance.

Jelena was indeed insightful. After listening to her analysis that day, Aurelia had immediately called her mother to prepare for the inevitable.

Who would have thought that Rahul would be so quick to coax her grandma? That family was indeed

desperate to settle their son.

After Zack and Jolin ended their call, Jelena opened Ritchie’s Facebook page, “This is the car Aunt just

bought for Ritchie, a BMW. It cost a large sum of money, most of of which is from your grandma. She’s

almost drained by Ritchie.”

Aurelia gasped, recalling how when Avery was sick, her grandma didn’t want to give a penny, even

suggesting they give up treatment. Now, she easily gives away all of her savings for Ritchie’s car.

Was Avery not her own grandson?

“Mom, is dad her biological son?” Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

Jolin snorted, “How should I know, you should ask your grandma.”

Jelena pulled a face, “I heard mom say that grandma had a difficult birth with Uncle Zack, and a

fortune. teller said his birth chart was in conflict with hers, that’s why she doesn’t like him.”

Jolin scoffed, “Superstitions can kill. If Zack was truly a bad luck, would his mom still be alive today?”
